Retreat & Certificate in Spiritual Direction Application

Questions Regarding the Certificate in Spiritual Direction (and Optional Certificate in Coaching)

Letter of Reference

Please obtain a reference from someone who knows you well, such as your pastor, ministry supervisor, or a spiritual mentor using the Soul Shepherding Reference Form online (you can e-mail the link).

Payment Policy

Certificate in Spiritual Direction (CSD) Enrollment Fee:
Upon completion of your application to the CSD Program, if you are accepted, you will be sent an Enrollment form for you to complete/ submit and required to pay a $100 non-refundable Enrollment fee.

Combined Soul Shepherding Retreat and CSD Fees:  The combined fee for the four SSI retreats and the CSD Program is $419 per month for 24 months and includes payment for all four retreats (including lodging and meals). Attendees are responsible for all travel arrangements to and from each retreat. Alternatively, the fee covers attending the SSI retreats via Zoom. Because it is valuable for married couples to attend together, we are happy to offer a 25% discount for spouses sharing a room at a retreat. Spouses are also required to complete a separate Institute Retreat Application and obtain a reference. There are additional costs for required spiritual direction sessions, books, and an optional private room at each retreat. 

Optional Combined Retreats/Certificate in Coaching (CC) Fees:
The CC Program is an optional third year of training with a fifth SSI retreat of your choice. The combined fee for the fifth SSI retreat and CC program is $419 per month for an additional 12 months and includes payment for the fifth Institute retreat. Attendees are responsible for all travel arrangements to and from the retreat. Alternatively, the fee covers attending the SSI retreat via Zoom. You are also welcome to re-attend additional Institute retreats at the regular price of $1,425 each (or $1,325 early-bird). There are additional costs for required coaching sessions, books, and an optional private room at each retreat.

Media and Liability Release

I understand that I will be photographed, recorded or videotaped and I authorize Soul Shepherding, and its agents, to record my appearance and participation in any Soul Shepherding event on videotape, audiotape, film, photograph, or any other medium currently in existence or hereafter created. For valuable consideration received and acknowledged, I grant Soul Shepherding the irrevocable, worldwide right to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, display, perform, transmit, prepare derivative works from, and exhibit such recordings, and allow others to do the same, in any medium now in existence (e.g., CDs, DVDs, Internet, YouTube, social media, streaming from the Soul Shepherding website, etc.) or hereafter created, in whole or in part, without restrictions or limitation for any purpose that Soul Shepherding deems appropriate. I consent to the use of my name, likeness, voice and biographical material provided by me or developed by Soul Shepherding in connection with such recordings. In the unlikely event of an accident or injury while attending a Soul Shepherding retreat, I release Soul Shepherding and its board members from liability. I am aware that this is a release and indemnification of liability and I sign it on my own free will. I have read and understood the terms of this release and agree that it shall be binding on my heirs and assigns. My signature below affirms that I have read, understood, and agreed to the above Media and Liability Release.

Cancellation Policy

We have designed our cancellation policy to be considerate while also respecting the costs incurred by Soul Shepherding. If you have any questions or need to cancel or make any changes to your retreat registration, please email Jennifer Welch at jennifer@soulshepherding.org. 

45 days or more prior to the start of a retreat, you may cancel (or change) and request to apply your payment to another retreat occurring within 12 months.

44  days or less prior to the start of a retreat no refunds or credits will be given. Soul Shepherding will receive what you paid as a tax-deductible donation.

For Certificate in Spiritual Direction or Coaching students on a combined monthly payment plan, if you cancel or make changes 44 days or less prior to the start of a retreat, you will incur a $500 fee to help defray costs incurred by Soul Shepherding.
