In May 2022, the only ice rink in Tasmania permanently closed as part of a private sale. Since then, Ice Sports Tasmania Inc. (IST) has worked hard to fundraise to offer local ice sports athletes and officials the opportunty for financial assistance to ease the financial burdon of travelling interstate to ice rinks to participate in their sport/s.
In July 2024 IST successfully secured a Small Grant from Active Tasmania (Department of State Growth) to boost the available funds to the targeted group of athletes and officials until 30 June 2025. To ensure IST complies with the requirements of the Deed, the eligibility criteria and application requirments have been updated (July 2024). Please email team@icesportstasmania.com.au for a copy of the eligibility criteria.
To submit an application, please complete this form.
Claims are currently limited to a maximum of $400 per person per month. All claims need to comply with appropriate IST guidelines. Chaperones or companions are not eligible to submit a claim.
Eligible claims will provide evidence of rink entry and original receipts which correspond to the claim dates and name of the claimant (i.e airfare or accommodation claims must have the name of the person travelling recorded on the receipt).
All claims must be made before midnight on the last day of the month claimed. Eg. if you are seeking assistance for travel that occured during the month of March, then the claim must be submitted before midnight on the last day of March to be valid. Late entries will not be considered.
Ice Sports Tasmania is grateful to be supported by the Tasmanian Government through the Department of State Growth.
