The Leadership, Engagement, and Academic Pathway Program (LEAP) is a longitudinal development program for medical students from historically marginalized groups and other disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested in academic EM and we are looking for faculty to serve in mentoring groups with 2-3 other faculty members (co-mentoring).
Mentors must be emergency medicine physicians with a record of scholarly activity and must be willing to commit to a term of at least one year, but ideally willing to remain with their mentee for a period of 3 years.
Additional Requirements Within Each Mentoring Group:
- Aid mentee in the submission of one yearly ADIEM/E&I committee-sponsored SAEM Pulse article
- Aid mentee in one yearly ADIEM/E&I committee-sponsored presentation at SAEM annual meeting as a workshop, didactic, innovation, ignite, abstract, OR short presentation at the ADIEM business meeting if not accepted to full SAEM meeting
- Aid mentee in completing one indexed publication/2-year period (can be research, educational initiatives, perspective pieces, etc)
- If in an ADIEM or E&I Committee leadership position, mentor families will facilitate mentee participation in an ADIEM/E&I committee yearly. If mentors are unable to do so, mentoring groups can be aided in this by the ADIEM Student and Trainee Committee.
