2024-2025 Course running from Saturday 14th September 2024 – Friday 17th January 2025.

Shortlisted applicant interviews will be held from 4pm onwards on the following days:

Wednesday 4th September.

Weekend meetings will be held in Belfast (Accidental Theatre, Shaftsbury Square, 10-4pm)

Saturday 14th September - Intro and Film Training

Saturday 28th September - Film Training

Tuesday 8th October - (Evening zoom call) Script development 1

Sunday 20th October - Script Development 2

Saturday 16th November - Film Prep day

Participants may also gain entry to workshops and masterclasses as part of the annual Cinemagic Film Festival running throughout October.

Please note it is likely there will be more applications than places and applicants will be selected based on their responses and material submitted through this application form. Please use the section to tell us why you’re the right candidate to be accepted on this course.

We strongly encourage you to save your supporting statements in a word document and cut and paste them into the application form to avoid losing your work.
Why do you want to take part the BFI Film Academy?
Please tell us about your experience and/or interest in Film. This could include your favourite film or television or a class that you have taken at school, for example. If you like, you can submit some work ( a film/photograph/piece of writing/ a website/ an animation etc.) to support your answer. Please provide these links and passwords (if required) below - e.g. to YouTube, Vimeo etc.
Please use this place to tell us if you have any particular areas of interest in film such as directing, programming, screenwriting, visual effects, sound design, etc.

The BFI Film Academy will be delivered by the course provider. Your submission of this form to us will constitute your confirmation of the following declaration:

- The BFI may share your name and contact details with a company who helps evaluate the BFI Film Academy. They may contact you to invite you to participate in a survey evaluating the course.
