Please read the following information in relation to float requirements:
REGULATIONS:
Floats participating in the street parade must comply with NSW Roads & Maritime Rules & Regulations. Please refer to the NSW Roads & Maritime Road Users' Handbook.
- All floats must be pre-registered to participate in the parade.
- The parade is a fun family event and inappropriate behaviour or content will not be tolerated by participants.
- The maximum length of any vehicle (including towed additions) must not exceed 12.5m.
- The preferred height is 3.3m with a maximum height of 4.3m. The maximum width is 3.5m.
- Use of dogs and horses in the parade is permitted however they must be restrained by a lead or tethered to the back of a vehicle at all times.
- At no time during the parade are participants allowed to pass, throw or give away items to the crowd.
- All participants must continue down the street to ensure the flow of the parade.
- Any vehicle or trailer participating in the parade must be registered and hold a compulsory third-party (CTP) insurance policy as required by law and comply with all applicable laws.
- Participants indemnify Yass Valley Council from any damage to vehicles arising from participation in this activity.
- All vehicles must be appropriately licensed for the type of vehicle being driven as required by law.
- Participants must take care when traveling as passengers on any vehicle or float to avoid all risks of falling and acknowledge that they travel on that vehicle or float at their own risk.
- If you have a flatbed truck or utility vehicle and participants standing or sitting on the tray, you must either implement railings or barriers to prevent people from falling off the edges or secure participants to a solid structure with appropriate safety harnesses.
- All participants including children and babies must be restrained when riding in a vehicle.
- All signage, decorations, furniture and other items on a vehicle or float must be securely attached to that vehicle or float.
- Smoking or the consumption of alcohol is not permitted in the parade. The parade location is an alcohol-free zone.
- Children participating in the parade MUST be supervised by a responsible adult aged over 18.
- In the lead-up to the event, all entries will receive an information pack detailing further information on assembly, marshalling, and disembarking from the parade.
- In the event of extreme weather conditions, Yass Valley Council reserves the right to cancel the parade. In the event of cancellation, Yass Valley Council will not be liable for any costs incurred by participants in preparation for the parade.
- Yass Valley Council and Hume Police District reserve the right to remove any entries that are deemed unsuitable or offensive or that contravene these conditions.
- Participants must always obey the instructions of Parade Officials - at all times.
