The Partnership for After School Education (PASE) is a child-focused organization that promotes and supports quality afterschool programs, particularly those serving young people from underserved communities.
In partnership with the Child Mind Institute, PASE will provide a cohort-based training series, with 5-7 afterschool programs. Each organization will send 3-5 staff members to receive training and commit to implementing the Mental Health Skill Building training and tools at their site. Sites would receive at least 5 hours of training and an additional 3-4 hours of coaching for implementation support.
The cohorts for this project will be drawn from organizations located in and/or serving youth and families who live, work, or attend programs in Lower Manhattan. Through this project, PASE, in partnership with the Child Mind Institute, will train staff at CBOs to teach children and adolescents ages K-12 to develop critical coping skills including managing big emotions, relaxation skills, and mindfulness. Children and adolescents receiving the curriculum from the training participants demonstrate a significant increase in coping skills, including their ability to think through problems, use effective problem-solving skills, and manage emotions.
