School to Skies / School to Seas Teachers camp is a free personal and professional development opportunity for New Zealand educators. Put yourself in the shoes of your students by joining us for a week-long camp with other like-minded educators. We'll show you how Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) apply to real-world problems so you can bring this information and enthusiasm back to your classrooms. The only cost to attend is travel to and from camp (unless travel subsidy is applied for and granted), accommodation and meals are provided for the duration of camp.
Applicants must be:
- Passionate for STEM subjects, education or careers;
- Either
- A New Zealand educator working with students from year 5 - 13;
- Working in a guidance, facilitation or support role with young adults in New Zealand;
- In their final year of study towards a teaching qualification in New Zealand, intending to work with students from year 5 - 13;
- Healthy with a moderate level of fitness. You won't be conducting fitness tests or hundreds of push ups, but you do need to be able to walk comfortably. A lot of time during camp is spent on your feet. There are no height or weight restrictions.
What you will need to complete this application:
- At least 30 minutes to complete your application.
- Contact details, current employment information, any relevant medical information.
- Your motivation for applying, and what you hope to get out of camp.
- The contact name, phone, and email of a referee, or endorser of your application.
Optional requirements:
- Application endorsement letter from your Principal, Department Head or Manager.
- Letter for Sponsors (if funding for travel to/from the camp may be required).
