Queer Adaptations Season 2025

Callout Brief

Do you have a piece of work that celebrates the retelling of an existing play, myth, story, or character through a queer (LGBTQIA+) lens?

We are looking for existing pieces of work to be programmed as part of our Queer Adaptations Season, in Spring 2025.

This is not a commissioning call out, all work submitted must be already created, or in a substantial development period to be included.

What we are looking for:

Existing work that is ready to be programmed.
We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants based in the North of England.
We wish to make the season as representative as possible and look forward to hearing from those from underrepresented and within protected characteristic groups.
Your work does not need to be a presentation of or respond to the work of Shakespeare, but must share the values of Shakespeare North Playhouse; to be innovative, honest, collaborative, creative, equal, brave and bold.
