Welcome to Open 4 Success, part of the Better Shifts Today Program from Better Than Yesterday Consulting.
This checklist is designed originally as a training tool. If each key holder is trained the same way, to open, handle the rush, and close, then each shift can better prepare the next shift. It became something more as use increased.
This checklist builds awareness to the processes that matter. It ensures that you and your team are busy when it is slow so it feels slow when it is busy. This is an important concept because a hard and stressful shift creates issues amongst the team. No one wants that.
You will be asked to do a few things in a order that might seem inefficient. The reasoning is simple, sometimes a few more steps when slow is better than standing around and waiting! The order is also designed to help lower your electircal costs by staggering when you turn equipment on.
Now the checklist itself.
Each section will have a link to training. Feel free to use the links whenever and with whomever. They are designed to help keep the checklist short. Each section has a time attached to it. Because stores opening times are different, the times are -minutes before open and then +minutes after open.
This checklist should be completed when your first order leaves the location OR 12pm, whichever occurs first.
Use the "Other" option to remind yourself or the next shift of an issue. As an example, if you have a monitor out. Don't choose yes, choose other and then enter that the second front counter monitor is down. The checklist will email to you, you can then forward to those that can repair or fix your issues.
If you have not done so already, download the JotForm app. If you login through to the checklist through the JotForm app, you should be able to track your submissions.
