VDOC Fall 2024 Class Registration

VDOC Has been a local club since 1981. As our way to give back to the community we offer classes two times a year. Classes are taught by trained club members who have a passion for Dogs and Training. Our Club members have experience with training dogs using balanced methods. Our Classes are taught using lots of treats, praise and corrections where needed.
CLASSES OFFERED

STAR Puppy – This class is for puppies 4 – 12 months old and teaches you how to best communicate with your puppy. Classes are aimed at earning the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction. You’ll be able to get information on all of your puppy-raising questions including housetraining, chewing, and the most effective way to teach practical skills such as coming when called as well as basic obedience. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy training is a natural lead in to our Basic Classes and The AKC Canine Good Citizens Program. Puppies that complete STAR Puppy get a certificate from AKC. Tuesday nights @ 6:30 PM

BASIC MANNERS Class - This class is for dogs 8 months and older. In Class you and your dog will learn the fundamentals of obedience and prepare for The Canine Good Citizen evaluation. Class material covers sit, down, come, basic walking on a leash, stay and works on basic manners with your dog. Class is held Tuesday nights @ 7:30 PM Class Dates

CLASS REGISTRATION

Class registration is ONLY Online. Classes fill quickly - Don't Delay.

Classes are $90 plus processing fee of $5. There are NO REFUNDS once you have registered for class.

Only one person is allowed to handle dog during class. Family Members may come and watch but the same handler should bring the dog to class.

Handlers under 18

Junior handlers are welcome in our classes. They MUST be able to control the dog they are handling.

A parent or sibling over 18 must attend with the junior handler and be at the side of class ready to help if needed.

Only one handler per dog.

Class Orientation and Equipment Pick Up - WITHOUT Dogs

This is considered the first night of class and attendance is Required.

Tuesday, September 17th at at 7:00 PM. This will be held in the rear parking lot of the Citizens Healthplex, 9406 Zac Lentz Parkway, Victoria, TX 77904.
Bring a copy , that we can keep, of your dog's Vaccination records as well as your dogs neck measurement.
DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG on the first night.

First Night of Class WITH Dogs

Tuesday, September 24th at your class time. This is considered the second night of class and will be held WITH your dog.

Classes are once a week for 7 weeks, with the possibility of weather delays. This will be discussed during orientation September 17.
All classes are held in the rear parking lot of the Citizens Healthplex, 9406 Zac Lentz Parkway, Victoria, TX 77904.

CLASS SCHEDULE

September 17 - 1st Night of Class,WITHOUT DOGS, Orientation and Equipment Pick Up. This class is required attendance. ALL Classes will meet this night at 7:00 PM

September 24 - 2nd Night of Class, WITH DOGS. STAR Puppy starts at 6:30 PM and Basic Manners starts at 7:00 PM(This night only)

October 1 , 8 , 15 , 22 and 29 Regular Classes. STAR Puppy at 6:30 PM and Basic Manners at 7:30 PM

November 5 Make up class or extra class due to rain delay.

Agreement to Hold Harmless Waiver and Assumption of Risk I understand that attendance of a dog obedience class is not without risk to myself, members of my family or guests who attend with me, or my dog. Some of the dogs to which I will be exposed may be difficult to control and may be the cause of injury to myself, members of my family or guests who attend with me, or my dog, even when handled with the greatest amount of care. I hereby waive and release the Victoria Dog Obedience Club, hereinafter referred to as VDOC, it’s volunteers, officers, members, and agents from any and all liability of any nature, for injury or damage which I or my dog may suffer; including specifically, but without limitation, any injury or damage resulting from the action of any dog, and I expressly assume the risk of such damage or injury while attending any training session, or any other function of VDOC, or while on the training grounds and surrounding area thereto. In consideration of and as inducement to the acceptance of my application for training classes offered by VDOC, I hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless VDOC, it’s volunteers, officers, members, and agents from any and all claims by myself, by any members of my family accompanying me, or any other persons accompanying me, to any training sessions or function of VDOC or while on the training grounds or surrounding area thereto as a result of any action by any dog, including my own.*
