A Juried Exhibition of Contemporary, Folk and Traditional Arts & Crafts by Finnish and Finnish American artists as well as our Finnish-loving friends.
Finlandia Foundation National's Finlandia Art Gallery is located in the Finnish American Heritage Center, Hancock, Michigan.
This inaugural Friends of Finland exhibit is open to members of Finlandia Foundation National chapters as well as our Finnish-loving friends who may not be members of a chapter. The exhibit will promote Finlandia Foundation National’s mission of championing Finnish culture and heritage through art. The exhibit will be in place during our annual Heikinpäivä, a Finnish-American mid-winter festival in January 2025.

Important Dates and Deadlines for accepted work:
• Shipped work should be delivered to gallery by: November 12
• Hand delivered work should be delivered to the gallery on November 13 or 14, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
• Exhibition dates: November 21 - January 28
• Reception: December 5, 7-8:30 p.m.
• End of exhibit work pick up: January 29, 2025. Mailed work will be repackaged in original packing materials and returned to the address provided.
Eligibility: Work in all media made in the last five (5) years is welcome. Artwork must be able to be displayed on or against the wall (narrow exhibit shelves mounted on the wall are available for small 3D work (must be less than 6" in depth; for this exhibit no work will be displayed on pedestals). Work previously exhibited at the gallery is not eligible.
Submissions: All entries must be submitted by filling out the following Jotform. There is no entry fee to submit between 1-5 images; the jury will select specific artworks for the exhibition based on submissions.
Young at Art Category: Special consideration will be given to art submitted by age 25 and younger artists for our Young at Art category. There will be a juror’s choice $250 award given in this category.
Awards: Jurors’ Choice award, with a prize of $250 • Audience Choice – Based on votes by visitors to the exhibition (non - cash award).
Delivery of work: All accepted work should be delivered to the Finlandia Art Gallery, 435 Quincy Street, Hancock, MI 49930 by November 12-14 (see important dates). Artwork can be hand delivered or mailed. The artist is responsible for the postage to the gallery and can seek financial support from their local FFN chapters if available. Finlandia Art Gallery will pay for return shipping to the artist.
Commission: There is a 20% commission paid to the gallery for work sold during your exhibit. All sales will be handled by Gallery Director, Carrie Vander Veen. Patrons will make payment to the artist directly and the artist will pay their commission by check to Finlandia Foundation National at the end of the exhibit. Sold work will remain in the Gallery until the end of the exhibit unless special arrangements are made through the Gallery Director.
Artist represents and warrants that he, she, they: (a) is/are the sole creator of the Artwork; (b) is/are the owner of the Artwork and all of the rights under copyright in the Artwork; (c) has full authority to loan an image of the Artwork and grant the rights provided in this Agreement. Artist further represents and warrants that nothing in the Artwork defames any person or entity, infringes any copyright, or otherwise violates the rights of any third party.
