    Eagle Foundation Learning Grant Application

The Learning Grants Committee seeks proposals from District professional staff as well as advisors and/or coaches of school district sanctioned clubs for innovative student-oriented projects. The Eagle Foundation is committed to supporting educational and enrichment activities within the Cumberland Valley community. Successful applicants will be required to submit a brief final report within three months of completion of the project. The report should include: report of expenditures, a brief statement of accomplishments, and an assessment of the project’s success. Applicants may be asked to share project results with District administrators and faculty. Application names and approved project information may be shared in print materials and with other District staff.

The key to getting your project APPROVED is having a solid plan on how you want to use the materials you are requesting AND meeting most criteria points. Check those you believe your project meets. We have recently added incorporating the Portrait of an Eagle competencies. You can review those competencies here: POE.

    Awarding of Funds

A total of about $15,000 is awarded to Teachers and Advisors in Learning Grants each year. If similar material or technology requests are made, faculty may be asked to share resources.

    1. Typical grant awards are usually in the $500 – $700 range, but some grants have been awarded at higher levels.
    2. Funds will be allocated until depleted.
    3. Funding decisions will be based on justification, using evaluation criteria listed below, and availability of funds.

    IMPORTANT NOTES:
Requests for furniture or alternative furniture will most likely not be approved unless it is unlike anything that has been tried within the District recently (and MANY have been tried) and has a significant benefit to users.

Similarly, while there are currently no restrictions on technology device requests, understand that it is rare for the committee to approve devices for individual classrooms. A more favorable look would be granted to peripherals using existing District technology. Please see the information under the Technology Requests section for additional information.

    Evaluation Criteria

More favorable consideration is likely for projects or activities that:

    • Are cost-effective with regard to the number of students and faculty benefited.
    • Encourages collaboration and cross-curricular work (across different grades, buildings, and/or departments).
    • Promotes creativity, innovations, and interaction of faculty and students in the classroom.
    • Aligns with the District’s vision, goals, and curriculum.
    • Have the potential to influence teaching and learning practices District-wide.

    Project Information Needed

    ** Technology Requests**:

The Foundation works closely with the District in making purchases for approved projects. This is particularly true with technology related projects. Like all grant materials, items purchased by the Foundation become the property of the CV District, and thus technology items must be installed and serviced by the Technology Department. Adherence to the Technology Department’s current policies and practices is required for all technology requests, including peripherals.
