Unlisted Projects
24 HR Artist Lock-In Residency
About the Residency
Unlisted Projects and The Museum of Human Achievement (MoHA) present a new 24-hour Lock-In Arts Residency program. We welcome all artistic mediums and individuals whose work is outside the box. Residents will work on-site in a climate-controlled renovated 1970s trailer with a private yard and have access to the larger production and workshop spaces inside of MoHA.
Artists will spend the weekend in “shifts” working on their project: one 12-hour day and then another 12-hour day with built-in breaks and meals. A $2000 stipend will be provided per weekend resident, along with $500 toward childcare, animal boarding, or costs that would make the residency more accessible to the resident. 3 Meals per day and any delivery costs will be covered while in residence. Residents will be asked to share their experience and part of their work during a final community event/panel.
Eligibility
Residents must live in the Austin, TX metropolitan area. Austin's metropolitan area encompasses Hays, Williamson, Bastrop, and Caldwell counties, including the cities of Round Rock and San Marcos.
Accommodations
The Lock-In residency is tailored to the resident’s needs. Unlisted Projects will discuss any accessibility concerns with chosen residents to ensure a safe and supportive creative environment. Work will happen in Unlisted Project’s climate-controlled trailer and in available MoHA spaces. Residents are welcome to stay overnight in the trailer but are also able to return home after residency hours.
Duration
Residents will meet with program staff for planning and coordination within two weeks of being selected to share expectations and discuss questions.
The residency will last 2 days. The 24 hour residency will be completed in two 12 hour days. Selected artists will be provided an orientation and tour of the space on the Friday before their residence. Orientation is expected to last 2 hours and does not count toward artist working time. There will be a culminating panel event on September 27th that, if selected, you must also be available for.
Available weekend residencies are: Aug 24-25, Aug 31-Sep 1st, Sept 7th-8th.
Deadlines
Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis. All applicants will be notified about their application.
Selection
Artists-In-Residence are selected by a local review panel through our Open Call application process. UP will prioritize artists who have obligations like full-time employment, school work, children (human or animal), or other commitments that would make more traditional residencies (lasting from 1-3 weeks, months, or a year) unattainable. Unlisted Projects 24-Hr Lock-In Residency is intended to be more accessible to part-time artists or artists whose personal, professional, and or systemic barriers make it difficult to pursue arts projects. Societally marginalized artists are especially encouraged to apply including but not limited to LGBTQIA+, Native, Black, POC, and disabled artists.
Support
Artists will receive a working stipend ($2,000), and working space.
