  • TITLE: Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc. Board of Directors Member


    PURPOSE: To serve as a voting member of the board of directors for Crime
    Stoppers of El Paso, Inc. develops policies, procedures, and regulations for the organization's conduct; to raise funds to finance the organization and its rewards, and to monitor financial performance and organizational performance.

    TERM: Three-year board term unless elected to fill an unexpired term. 

    MEETING ATTENDANCE:

    • Be punctual and attend regularly scheduled monthly board meetings.
    • Participate actively in any committee of the board of Ad hoc
      committee (as appointed)
    • Support and participate in special events that benefit Crime Stoppers
      of El Paso, Inc.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Understand and support the mission of Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc.
    • Assist in establishing policy.
    • Assist in fundraising efforts for the annual budget.
    • Monitor the organization’s financial performance.
    • Develop and monitor short and long-range planning and goals.
    • Represent the organization at community events to the public and
      private sector; serve as an advocate for Crime Stoppers.
    • Be informed about the programs and policies of Crime Stoppers
  • BOARD OF DIRECTOR’S RESPONSIBILITIES AND MEMBER’S OBLIGATIONS

  • The mission of Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc. is to carry out a community offensive against crime by motivating the public to report information about crimes that may lead to an arrest and to provide rewards for citizen cooperation.

    Each Board Director must understand and be committed to the Mission. Below are listed the responsibilities of the Board of Directors and the obligations of Membership.

  • Responsibilities of the Board of Directors:

    • Embrace the mission, goals, and objectives of Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc., and work to further them,
    • Abide by, and support the bylaws and constitution of Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc.
    • Conduct oneself ethically and legally in all matters pertaining to the governance of the organization,
    • Assist the board in the establishment of policies, and procedures that enhance organizational effectiveness,
    • Help assure long-term financial stability in the conduct of fundraising activities,
    • Exercise proper and effective fiduciary responsibility and oversight,
    • Participate in the development and approval of the annual budget,
    • Monitor and strengthen existing programs and services,
    • Evaluate the need for any new programs, services or direction to our mission,
    • Enhance the public image and serve as an advocate for Crime Stoppers of El Paso,
    • Recruit and orient new board members.

  • Obligations of Members on the Board of Directors:

    • Advocate for the mission and goals of Crime Stoppers of El Paso, Inc.,
    • Attend regularly scheduled board meetings,
    • Maintain confidentiality by not disclosing privileged information with unauthorized parties,
    • Assess and work to strengthen the Board’s performance,
    • Maintain stewardship of charitable contributions; ensuring that they are used as donors intended,
    • Provide personal and professional expertise to support the Organization,
    • Assist the Organization in fundraising and participate in fundraising activities.
    • Serve on and actively participate in the work of at least one committee,
    • Participate in as many training and board development activities as possible,
    • Avoid any conflict of interest or appearance of a conflict of interest,
    • Conduct personal and professional affairs in a manner that avoids discredit upon the Organization.

  • Applicant must be 18 years of age to apply.
