The mission of the Mayor's Fitness Council is to increase awareness and connect San Antonio residents to opportunities for improved emotional well-being, physical activity, and healthy eating. The vision of the Mayor's Fitness Council is a San Antonio where residents have opportunities to move more, eat better, and stay connected.
Membership Types:
By joining the Mayor's Fitness Council you will play an active role in moving the health and wellness needle in the right direction for our city, region, state, and nation. The Mayor's Fitness Council offers two types of membership:
- Community Partner Representative - an individual that acts as a representative of the organization that they are employed.
- Non-Affiliated Organization Volunteer - an indivudual that is soley interested in serving as a Mayor's Fitness Council member to assist the MFC in its misison of a healthier and more active San Antonio. This individual is not acting as a representative of the organization that they are employed with.
Note: If you select Community Partner Representative please ensure that your employer is aware that you are serving on the Mayor's Fitness Council and that you are an approved representative.
The Mayor's Fitness Council facilitates several committees, let's learn about them:
- Community Committee is a community focused committee that highlights community opportunities, events, and networking.
- Healthy Schools Committee is a hybrid of Bexar County School District Administrators and Schools Related and Focused Organization Representatives.
- Communications Committee is a community focused committee that highlights community opportunities, events, and networking through the Mayor's Fitness Council website - www.fitcitysa.com, MFC social platforms, video series, newsletters and signature events.
- San Antonio Business Group on Health (SABGH) is a professional networking group of organizations and employers that want to learn more about how to promote healthy workplaces throughout Bexar County.
- Food Policy Council is the Mayor's Fitness Council sister council. The FPC is focused on gardening, farmers' markets, urban agriculture, food and nutrition policy, and the Padre Park Food Forest.
