Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and Students,
As part of the Verizon Innovative Learning School (VILS) Program, Horace Mann Middle School provides students with an iPad to use daily at school and for at-home learning. Students and families are responsible for the proper care and maintenance of the devices while the iPads are on loan to students. Students and families must review and sign an End User Participation Agreement and/or a Mobile Device Agreement included in the Opening of Schools packet agreeing that the family is responsible for caring for the device while on loan. Unfortunately, broken and/or lost/stolen iPads (e.g., cracked screens, broken start buttons, etc impede learning since there is a 2-4-week turn-around repair window where students are without their assigned iPad. Students are still responsible for completing and staying up-to-date with class assignments, Home Learning, projects, etc. since a "Loaner" device will be provided while at school. The absence of their assigned device does not excuse students from completing schoolwork and/or Home Learning
Please keep in mind the financial burden that may come with each breakage:
Additionally, device checks are randomly conducted throughout the school year to ensure that devices are functional. Moreover, at the end of the academic school year, all devices and accessories must be turned in to the school in working condition. All students must return their district-issued device to the school that provided the device to avoid incurring a fine for not returning the device.
