The Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated affirms its commitment to the community by awarding a $2,500 scholarship to a college student who is currently pursuing an Education-related degree at a local Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
The applicant must be:
- A full-time undergraduate (12 or more credits) or graduate (6 or more credits hours in a semester) student in good standing at a local Historically Black College or University (HBCU) with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 scale.
- Matriculating towards a degree from the School of Education
- Note: Previous recipients are not eligible
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
The applicant will:
- Submit a completed application form.
- Submit an essay (250-500 words) explaining why you chose the Education field.
- Submit two (2) letters of recommendation from the following:
- Two faculty members (placed on letterhead) or
- One faculty member and one community leader, such as a minister, community organization leader etc., who knows the applicant well
- Provide an updated official undergraduate or graduate transcript
- Official university documentation showing pursuit of a degree in the School of Education
- Submit a professional headshot photo.
Applications are due by Saturday, March 1, 2025.
