    In consideration of the acceptance of my volunteering at the 2024 Freedom Run ("Event"), I, the undersigned, assume full and complete responsibility for any injury or accident, which may occur during my participation in the Event or while I am on the premises of the Event. I hereby release and hold harmless and covenant not to file suit against the sponsors, promoters, contributors, municipalities, beneficiaries, and all other persons and entities associated with the Event, including but not limited to RunSignUp.com, Assist the Officer Foundation, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers ("DAYL"), DAYL Foundation, or their agents or employees from any loss, liability, or claims and any and all injury or damage whether such injury or damage be caused by the negligence, gross negligence, or misrepresentation of such parties or any other person or entity associated directly or indirectly with the Event or their agents or employees and are not responsible for intentional, reckless, or negligent acts of third parties who are outside their control. I recognize, intend and understand that this release is binding on my heirs, executors, administrators, or assignees.

    I will not enter and participate in the Event unless medically and properly trained. I also know that although police protection will be provided, there may be traffic on the course route. I assume the risk associated with this Event, including but not limited to falls, contact with participants, alcohol consumption, the effects of weather including high heat and/or humidity, and the conditions of the course, all such risks being known and appreciated by me.

    The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing and have, in many locations, prohibited the congregation of groups of people. The Freedom Run and DAYL (collectively “Freedom Run Organizers”) have put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, the Freedom Run Organizers cannot guarantee that you or your child will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, attending the Freedom Run could increase your risk and your child’s risk of contracting COVID-19. By checking the box below, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child and I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending the Event and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at the Event may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, the Freedom Run Organizers and the DAYL’s volunteers, and program participants and their families.

    I understand that Freedom Run Organizers have put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19, which may include (but are not limited to) the following: requiring social distancing, requiring face coverings in areas where social distancing is not possible, staggered starting groups, etc. and I and/or my child agree to comply with all such measures.  I understand that I may be denied entry into the Event, or be required to leave if such preventative measures and/or directives of the Freedom Run Organizers are not followed, and that no refunds will be issued if I am asked to leave or denied entry.

    I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to my child or myself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that I or my child may experience or incur in connection with my child’s attendance at the Freedom Run event (“Claims”). On my behalf, and on behalf of my child listed below, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless (1) the Freedom Run Organizers, its employees, agents, and representatives, and (2) the City of Dallas, its officers, agents and employees, from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating thereto. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of the Freedom Run Organizers, its employees, volunteers, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in the Freedom Run event.

    I further grant my permission to the DAYL to use any photographs, videotape, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of this Event. T-shirt size is not guaranteed. Fees are non-refundable. I have read the foregoing and certify my agreement by checking the box below, and my parent's/guardian's agreement if under 18.
