Revolutionary Schools: Schools can join RevolutionNJ initiative by becoming a Revolutionary School. The NJ Department of Education wants to recognize the innovative social studies instruction taking place in NJ by highlighting students, educators, schools, and districts that are connecting our past to the present through historical inquiry, community engagement, and civic participation.
History Happened Here: This program provides educators with a research project framework, supporting lesson plans, instructional resources, and professional development opportunities to foster historical inquiry and critical thinking skills while meeting the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
Students conduct research on a subject of their choosing that connects to the American ideals of freedom, justice, liberty, equality, self-determination, and the pursuit of happiness to present at the school, local and/or state level.
Foundations of Democracy Toolkit: In today's complex world, equipping our youngest learners with a strong civic foundation is more crucial than ever. "Foundations of Democracy" provides you with the tools to inspire the next generation of informed, engaged citizens. This guide further’s RevolutionNJ's mission to commemorate our state's pivotal role in the American Revolution while fostering a deeper understanding of civic responsibility and democratic values.
Revolutionary Lives: This traveling exhibit shares stories from the American Revolution. Corresponding lesson plans adaptable for grades 6-12 will be provided with the reservation of the exhibit.
