    About the Job
We’re looking for a talented and reliable video editor who’s not just good at cutting footage — but great at telling stories through it.

This role is for someone who can take raw b-roll and field-shot footage and turn it into a compelling, YouTube-ready video. Think: mini-documentary meets commentary-style edit.

But editing alone isn’t enough — we’re also looking for someone who can help script, outline, and shape the story before the edit even begins. You should be comfortable contributing ideas during pre-production, suggesting what to shoot, and helping tighten the narrative during post.

Strong communication is key — we want someone who can take initiative and help guide the creative direction of the video alongside our team.

    What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be editing 2–4 videos per month for Courtside Tennis, focusing only on our IRL content — the stuff we go out and film ourselves. These projects are typically personality-driven and filmed on-location, and we’re looking for someone who can bring structure, energy, and a clear creative point of view to the footage.

To start, we’ll begin with one paid trial video to make sure we’re a good fit on both sides. If things go well, we’ll move into a consistent monthly workflow.

If you’re also someone who can create or script short-form content (like Reels or YouTube Shorts) from our long-form IRL footage, that’s a huge plus — and something we’re looking to build out more.

We’re Looking For Someone Who Can
Take filmed footage and build an engaging, commentary-style edit
Help guide the story before the edit — by giving feedback on what we should film, contributing to scripts, and suggesting shot ideas — and continue to shape it during the edit if needed

Communicate clearly and confidently — someone who isn’t afraid to speak up with creative ideas and help lead the storytelling process

Work independently and meet deadlines without needing to be micromanaged

Bring creative energy and story instincts into both the planning and post-production process

This is not just an editing role
If you're not interested in shaping story structure or helping direct the content before editing begins, this isn’t the right fit.

    Must Haves
Solid editing experience, especially with YouTube-style, personality-driven or documentary-style content

Strong storytelling instincts — you know how to pace and structure a video to keep people watching

Clear, consistent communication and the confidence to help lead creative discussions

Comfortable with scripting and contributing to the direction of a shoot

A collaborative mindset and ability to give and receive feedback

At least an above-average understanding of tennis — the more of a fan you are, the better

    Bonus If You
Are familiar with IRL or commentary-style YouTube videos.

Here are two examples of the kind of content we make:
I Survived The World's Highest Gym (10,361 ft)
I Never Thought I'd Do This...

Can script and edit short-form content (Reels, Shorts, TikToks) from long-form footage

    About the Job

This is a project-based role, not full-time — but we’re looking for someone we can bring in regularly to help us pre-plan, script, and shape videos from start to finish.

    What You’ll Do:
Research/Script the tennis topic (players, tactics, history, gear, stats, context)

Turn an idea into a clear outline before we film

After filming, watch the raw footage and pull the best moments into a “paper edit” with timestamps

Write the full voiceover script that matches the footage

Add simple editor notes so the story stays tight (what goes where, what to cut, what to save for later)

    Who This Role Is For:
You’ve written scripts for YouTube videos before — ideally for IRL or documentary-style content, not just video essays

You understand how to structure a story, break it into scenes or chapters, and pace it for an online audience

You’re a tennis fan — or at least know the ins and outs of the sport and follow the pro tours

You’re creative and original. You’re not just using AI to fill a script — you know how to pitch, write, and think like a real storyteller

You understand YouTube’s pacing, tone, and audience expectations

You can write in a way that sounds natural spoken aloud (not stiff narration, not overwritten blog copy)

    What This Is Not:
This is not an AI-assisted, “script generator” job

This is not your first time writing for video

This is not a role for someone who doesn't watch or care about tennis

We’re building something new for the sport — and we need smart, creative people to help us shape it.

    Bonus If You
You’ve worked on sports content (especially tennis)

You’ve helped build content packets for IRL shoots before (scripting out what to film, what to ask people on-site, etc.)

You’re familiar with the Courtside Tennis channel or similar high-quality YouTube storytelling

Here are some examples of the kind of content we make or want to make:

    Video at Babalot String Factory

Video at Babalot Natural Gut String Factory

"Yes Theory" Video thats half explainer half IRL

    About the Role
We’re looking for a talented editor with a deep love for tennis to help us bring compelling, long-form tennis content to life. If you’re the kind of person who watches Roland Garros reruns for fun, has a YouTube watch history full of sports documentaries, and knows how to cut a story that keeps people hooked — this might be for you.

We publish documentary-style video essays and hybrid projects that blend voiceover with original filmed content. The ideal editor will be someone who understands the rhythm of a good story and knows how to bring structure, personality, and energy to a timeline — all without needing their hand held.

This role is only for serious tennis fans — that’s non-negotiable. You’ll be expected to know the sport inside and out: the players, rivalries, history, and culture. If you’re not already immersed in tennis, this job is not for you. You’ll be expected to know the players, the culture, and the nuances of the sport in order to edit quickly and accurately.

    What You'll Be Doing

Editing 1–4 long-form videos per month (typically around 18 minutes)
Sourcing clips, match footage, media assets, and audio as needed
Building strong, creative, and engaging narrative timelines in Premiere Pro using modern pacing, light humor, and thoughtful visual choices to elevate each video

Managing VO, music, and sound effects for rhythm and flow

Turning around edits in 1–2 days (or faster) per video without sacrificing accuracy

    What We’re Looking For

You’re fluent in English and can follow voiceover-led edits with ease

You know how to research footage and structure scenes without a storyboard

You’ve edited video essays or narrative YouTube content before

You care about details, continuity, clarity and communication

You’re fast — and accurate. We have high standards for factual correctness and pace.

You’re comfortable using your own creative instincts to elevate an edit without being told what to do line by line

    Required Tools & Skills

    Adobe Premiere Pro (required)

After Effects (basic familiarity to drop placeholders)

Knowledge of tennis: past, present, and the culture around it

    Bonus Points If You...

Have edited sports or documentary content before

Know how to balance humor, heart, and history in your pacing

Are familiar with tennis-specific editing styles

We pay between $50-$550 per idea based on video performance. Your compensation is determined by the highest view milestone each video reaches:

    90,000-150,000 views: $50 compensation
    150,000-250,000 views: $80 compensation
    250,000-400,000 views: $130 compensation
    400,000-600,000 views: $210 compensation
    600,000-1,000,000 views: $335 compensation
    1,000,000+ views: $550 compensation

For example, if a video reaches 175,000 views, your compensation would be $80. If that same video later grows to 300,000 views, we would pay you an additional $50 to reach the $130 compensation level for that tier.

    NEXT STEPS

We're asking you to come up with two to three ideas for our channel. We want to strongly emphasize that we will not use these ideas without proper compensation. This task is purely for us to evaluate your ability to generate compelling content and understand your creative process.

What we're looking for is for you to develop 2-3 video ideas. For each idea, please provide:

    1. A detailed explanation of why you think this idea is good
    2. Why you believe our audience will enjoy it
    3. An outline of what topics we would cover in the video

We're asking for multiple ideas because we need to see that you can consistently generate quality content, not just a one-off good idea. This task will help us understand your creative process, your grasp of our audience's interests, and your ability to structure engaging tennis content.

Remember, the only goal is "know your audience." We're looking for fresh, engaging ideas that showcase your tennis passion and YouTube savvy. Don't hesitate to think outside the box – your unique perspective could be exactly what we need to elevate our channel. We're excited to see what you come up with!

If you're ready to share your ideas, please proceed to the next section. There, you'll find a text box where you can either paste a link to your Google Doc containing your sample ideas or include your ideas directly in the text box. We look forward to reviewing your creative concepts!

    NEXT STEPS

    Creative Thinking Task
We want to get a sense of how you think, structure stories, and approach content that’s both entertaining and narrative-driven. This short creative task isn’t about a finished script — it’s about how you’d approach an idea and start to shape it into something watchable.

Please answer the questions below on the next section

Australia’s Tennis Problem Is Bigger Than Talent
(This idea is why is Tennis in Australia so popular but they have not produced many top players in recent memory)

How would you turn this into a compelling YouTube video?
(Think tone, narrative structure, pacing, potential challenges, interviews, IRL components, into something we could shoot and shape into a story.)

What part of the creative process do you enjoy the most?
(Ideation, writing VO, scripting post-footage, shaping narrative arc, helping guide the edit — whatever fits you best.)

How do you make your scripts editor-friendly?
(Explain how you use visual cues, pacing notes, structure, or transition suggestions to help an editor turn your words into a finished video.)
