Open Call for Gowanus Artists!

Painting public seating on Gowanus Canal Esplanade at 420 Carroll
Arts Gowanus is partnering with a property owner to beautify their seating along the forthcoming Gowanus Canal Esplanade. We're looking for 2 artists to paint bold, graphic artwork on 2 sets of pre-fabricated benches.
What you need to know:

-Owner has purchases 4 ENZO benches in blue.

-They'll be arranged in two groups of two, as shown below.

-Artwork should either span both benches, or be stylisticly consistent as the benches will be abutting.

-We're looking for bold, graphic designs. Nothing too intricate, as the artwork needs to be eye-catching and easy to maintain!

-The Gowanus Neighborhood Artist Advisory Committee will provide feedback on submissions, but ultimately the property owner will select the artists for this project.

-These benches are made from polyethylene, and therefore require considerable preparation before painting can begin. Arts Gowanus will assist selected artists with this process.

-Each selected artist will receive a stipend of $2,500 for their design and painting work.

-Submissions are open until 11:59 PM on September 15th

Artists should submit existing artwork that they think will translate well onto these benches.
