Application Rules and Regulations
Qualificiations
The purpose of the contest is to recognize a young agriculturist for their interest and achievements in agriculture and provide them with an opportunity to serve as an ambassador for agriculture and Farm Bureau.
Contest Criteria
- Does not have to be a Virginia Farm Bureau member
- Must be 18 years of age or have not reached their 24th birthday by the deadline date for the application.
- Former state contest winners are not eligible to compete.
Submission Deadline
Application deadline is October 31, 2024.
Competition Process
- Contestants must complete an application.
- Each contestant should be prepared for an interview with a panel of judges.
- Each contestant is expected to develop, present and defend an agriculture-related activity platform or project he/she will carry out during their tenure, if chosen as the Virginia Farm Bureau Ambassador. This presentation should be no longer than three minutes in length. The platform presentation will take place during the judging process. The Virginia Farm Bureau Ambassador platform should be an agricultural activity, event, or project that has a defined set of goals and objectives to promote agriculture through education, leadership, and advocacy.
- Finalists will be required to present their platform at the VFBF Women's Leadership Conference (April 4-6, 2025, Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump)
Judging Criteria
- 50% of score: Initial Interview - including professional appearance, composure and question responses
- 25% of score: Farm Bureau Essay component
- 25% of score: Content and delivery of platform presentation
Award & Responsibilities
- Applicant is required to attend and present their platform at the Women's Leadership Conference to be held April 4-6, 2025 at the Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump.
- The winner will be announced at the 2025 VFB Women's Leadership Conference.
- He/She will receive a $2,000 cash award divided into two payments. A report on the platform/project will be given at the conclusion of his/her term.
- First runner-up receives a $500 cash award
- While serving as the Farm Bureau Ambassador, the winner will be considered a representative of Farm Bureau and must be supportive of Farm Bureau policies during his/her tenure.
- Appearance expenses will be covered by Virginia Farm Bureau.
In order to complete this application, you will need to upload:
- A digital photo of yourself (at least 1500x2100 pixels)
- An activity platform outline detailing how you will use your role as ambassador.
- Essay: Topic to be chosen by the Women's Leadership Promtion, Education, and Leadership Committee. "How can you best utilize Farm Bureau to accomplish the goals in your platform and how will the Farm Bureau mission benefit from your efforts?" (12pt, minimum of 1 page)
