Foundations Workshop Registration 2016-2017

You are invited to Foundations for Families! Join us for this info-fair-style event to learn about different topics related to raising a deaf and hard of hearing child.

This event is designed to equip families with the knowledge to make well-informed decisions and the strategies to support their child’s development now and in the future. Foundations for Families also provides an opportunity for parents to ask questions and engage in discussion with staff and other parents in your community who are also experiencing this journey. Learn from DHH role models through a Q&A panel.

The Foundations for Families information and activities are targeted for parents/caregivers. You are welcome to keep pre-mobile babies with you, and childminding will be available for older children at our Specialized Daycare located at our Surrey centre for a cost (see below for details).

Registering your child in the designated child-minding may provide opportunities for your children to meet other DHH peers like them, while the adults take in the info fair. Meeting other DHH peers and DHH role models is a great way to build confidence and self-esteem!

This event will be held on October 20th (Sunday) from 10am-1:30pm. Registration deadline is October 11th, 2024. This workshop is being held in-person at our Surrey centre (15220 92nd Avenue, Surrey, BC V3R 2T8) and at the Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre (301-3960 Quadra Street, Victoria, BC, V8X 4A3).

The info-fair portion of the event (10am-12pm) will be offered in-person at the Surrey office and at IDHHC. The DHH panel portion (12:15-1:30pm) will be offered in person at the Surrey and at IDHHC, as well as online for those who are not able to join in person. This workshop is designed for parents and/or caregivers. Limited childcare may be available through our Specialized Daycare at the Surrey centre for $30 from 10am-1:30pm. Please note, our daycare licensing is for children aged 30 months to 5 years (siblings included, only 2 spots for 30-36 months). Pre-mobile babies are welcome to stay with parents during the workshop. Please indicate your childcare needs below:*
