    ILLNESS GUIDELINES:

    Dear Parents/Guardians:

We have seen quite a bit of illness in the school.

    Here are a few reminders:

    • A child must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of Tylenol or Motrin in order to return to school. Please do not medicate and send them to school.

    • Any child that has had diarrhea or vomiting must return to school 24 hours after the last episode to prevent spread to others. Your child must be fully well with an appetite and energy to learn. If your child had diarrhea and /or vomiting the night before, do not send them to school the next day.

    • I am still tracking COVID for the State. Please let me know if your child tests positive.

    • Please keep your child home for persistent coughing or colored nasal drainage and follow up with your physician.

    • Please keep your child home for 24 hours if treated for Strep or Pink eye.

    • Please call my number if your child is ill so I can enter it into the attendance. Any illness after 10 days of absences will need a Doctor’s note for an excused absence per the State Attendance Policy

    MEDICATION POLICY

All medications that are prescription or over the counter MUST have a doctor’s signed order and be brought to the nurse’s office by a parent or guardian at the beginning of the School year. All Medication must be in the original container and clearly marked with your child’s name.

Medications cannot be brought to the school in a child’s backpack. NO EXCEPTIONS per State Law. Any child caught with unmarked medication may be subject to disciplinary action per Administration and/or have Police involvement to rule out street drug usage and/or dealing.

While we currently do not have a drug issue at Corpus Christi School, we must remain vigilant to make sure this does not occur in the future. This is to ensure the safety of all the students and in accordance with State Law and Safety protocols.
Any Middle School student may utilize the Standing Order Medication provided to the Nurse as long as a parent fills out and signs the Standing Order Permission Sheet. This must be turned into the Nurse at the start of the school year and must be renewed every year. Over the counter medications provided include Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl and for children 12 and over TUMS and is dose specific according to your child’s weight.
