  • Thank you for deciding to become a foster parent! Your role is critical in providing cats and kittens a safe place to land and decompress from their former life, adapt to life in a home with a family, and get ready for their next stage, which is life with their forever family!

    We accept both long- and short-term fosters. The fostering, there is no definitive time period. It may take weeks or possibly longer for the Cat to be adopted.

    If you can no longer care for the Cat, notify us immediately so we can make every effort to find a suitable foster or adoptive home for the Cat.

    You agree not to surrender any Cats to any anyone without the consent of Maria Meows.

    You agree to work with Maria Meows to faciilitate transport, adoption meet-and-greets, vet visits etc.

    If there are pets present in the home, you agree they will have vetting kept up to date and that they will be neutered or spayed and parasite free. 

    If at any point you are concerned about the Cat in your care, immediately phone call Maria at 908-327-7444. Call until she answers.

  • As a foster, you agree to the following cat care guidelines.

    • Foster shall accept and consider the Cat as a household companion, not as an outside Cat, and will provide the Cat with a safe environment, humane treatment, and provide proper food, fresh water, shelter, and exercise. Foster agrees this Cat will not be abused in any manner.
    • Foster shall immediately notify Maria Meows if the Cat is lost or stolen, and shall make every reasonable effort to recover the Cat.
    • Foster shall not give up or sell the Cat to another person, relative, friend, or any other individual, or any rescue group, humane association, shelter, or adoption center, or any medical or experimental laboratory or any organization. On request of Maria Meows, Foster will promptly return any Cats provided to them by the organization.
    • Foster permits Maria Meows to visit at reasonable convenient times to check on the well being of the Cat.
    • Foster must schedule vet appointments through Maria Meows.
    • Foster shall immediately notify Foster Coordinator the event of the Cat’s injury, illness, or death during the foster care period.
    • Maria Meows will provide food and litter pellets (on request). Foster will not change the Cat’s food without prior approval,  Our facility is not staffed so fosters must give adequate notice to the foster team when additional food or supplies are needed.
    • Foster will not give any medication to the Cat without prior approval
    • The foster Cat should be separated from all other animals in the household for the first 14 days. For the safety of Foster's household and other resident Cats, Foster is required to carefully plan the Cat’s introduction into the home. Slow introductions are required for each Cat and this in turn will create a more balanced transition period for the Cat. If this is not followed, Maria Meows reserves the right to relinquish the Cat from Foster’s home and relieve Foster of their duties.
    • During the fostering period, Maria Meows has ownership of the Cat. We may recover the Cat from Foster at any time if it deems it necessary.
  • Are you willing to foster a cat that is a little spicy (meaning they need to decompress from the streets to feel safe)?*

  • Foster Fails

    • Maria Meows markets Cats available for adoption through various methods including Social Media and its Website. Foster is responsible for assisting in marketing his or her foster Cat by providing photos and descriptions of the Cat for marketing.
    • If Foster decides to permanently adopt the Cat, Foster shall notify Maria Meows, and upon approval, shall follow established adoption procedures including signing an Adoption Contract and paying the Cat’s adoption fee.
    • If Foster finds a permanent/adoptive home for the Cat, they will direct the potential adopter to fill out an application and follow adoption approval procedures.

  • I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Maria Meows and its directors, officers, employees, agents, and assigns from and against any and all claims, losses, liabilities, injury or death, and damages arising from or related to my activities as a foster for Maria Meows, including but not limited to any claims brought by third parties for any losses, liabilities, injury or death, and damagesarising out of or related to my volunteer activities. This indemnification shall not apply to any claims arising solely from the negligence of Maria Meows. If the foster is under 21, I agree on their behalf.
