  • SNOW BLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • 1.
After a single snowfall of 5cms or more, snow blowing activities will commence. With a follow-up visit being performed after municipal plows have passed when possible.

Additional cleanings may be provided during prolonged, heavy snowstorms. The timing of service visits will vary from storm to storm, depending upon the timing of the snow.

Cedar Valley Services shall be permitted to move snow on your property at any time of the day or night. Blowing of drifted snow is the responsibility of the client unless otherwise outlined and agreed to in addition to our regular contract.

    2.
With our equipment, we can get as close as 6” to your house, or any other object in the blowing area. Any snow that cannot be reached, up tight to the structure or objects, shall be the responsibility of the client.

    3.
It is understood that Cedar Valley Services makes every effort possible to limit gravel displacement on unpaved/gravel lanes. However, it is unavoidable. Ultimately the homeowner is responsible for clean-up of any gravel that has been displaced. Please note gravel driveways may be skipped the first snowfall until a solid base has built up to limit gravel displacement.

    4.
2 (two) driveway markers will be installed for the client free of charge at the beginning of every snow blowing season. Markers damaged or lost by the client will be replaced at a cost of $15/marker. Please ensure you place your own markers at the edge of any area that you request to have cleared (ie. turn arounds, extra parking spots etc).

    5.
Ottawa Street from Martin Street to Patterson Street will be subject to an additional fee of $50 + HST due to frequency of municipal plows and traffic volume.

    6.
No means of ice melter and/or ice control is provided with this service. Therefore, depending on the type of precipitation received, operations may not reach bare pavement.

    7.
In the event of sale or re-occupation of the client’s house, this contract will not be canceled or refunded, but may be transferable to the new occupants.

    8.
Additional services that cannot be performed during regular snow blowing hours, may be requested at an additional charge (ie. request for cleaning when a vehicle is moved, snow piled from roof etc)

    9.
Cedar Valley Services shall not be held responsible for any scrapes, scratches or rust marks on driveway surfaces, resulting from contact with snow blowing equipment and/or articles encountered in the snow blowing area (ie. driveway) including, but not limited to:

    • Basketball nets (permanent or portable), garbage cans, recycling bins, plant pots, toys, hockey sticks, extension cords, Christmas tree lights etc. All moveable property must either be removed completely (preferable) or placed at least four feet from the edge of the driveway prior to each snowstorm.

    • Overhanging branches must be removed prior to November 1. Removal by operator will be subject to an additional fee.

    • Downspout extensions must be unscrewed and removed completely prior to the commencement of the winter season.

    • Elevated water valve caps must be hammered down to the level of the surrounding asphalt. The client may either do this him/herself or may contact the municipality to perform the necessary maintenance prior to the commencement of the winter season.

    • Retaining walls, steps, elevated patio stones, wheelchair ramps, etc are the client’s responsibility to supply and install additional markers, where possible, around permanent objects (excluding basketball nets). These can protrude into the driveway and become invisible when covered by snow.
Cedar Valley services will not be liable for damages caused to any fixed objects hidden under snow and/or unidentified by protective markers.

    • Heaved, chipped or uneven asphalt/interlock is the client’s responsibility to ensure an even driveway surface prior to the commencement of the winter season. Cedar Valley Services, will not be responsible for any damages to uneven surfaces.
