    Dear Applicant and Parent/Guardian:

If you are reading this, you have taken the first step in becoming a part of the greatest program ever…the Paine College TRIO Upward Bound Program!  This Program has educated, empowered and prepared over 5,000 CSRA Scholars to achieve academic and personal success since its inception in 1967.  Our mission is simple: to provide the skills and motivation necessary for our participants to successfully graduate from high school and enroll in and graduate from an institution of postsecondary education.  The Program is federally funded by the U. S. Department of Education to serve 113 students from the following target high schools: ARC, Butler, Cross Creek, Glenn Hills, Hephzibah, Lucy C. Laney, T.W. Josey and Westside. All services are provided at no monetary cost to participants or their parent(s)/guardian(s).

*PLEASE NOTE: Enrollment will be open the entire 2025-2026 Academic School Year.

~To be considered for August 2025 participation, the application deadline is August 8, 2025. Applications received after August 8th will be reviewed for September 2025 participation and beyond.

The following are the steps for completing the application process:

    Step 1: Submit an application.

Step 2: Interview with Upward Bound Staff Member.  After a student’s application is received and reviewed for potential eligibility, the student will be scheduled for an interview via email.

Step 3: Students and Parent(s)/Guardian(s) are notified of admission status via email. Upward Bound makes provisional admission decisions. Students provisionally accepted in the Program will begin participation after completion of Step 4.

Step 4: New Student & Parent Orientation. Upon notification of provisional acceptance, the student and their parent(s)/guardian(s) MUST attend a MANDATORY orientation that discusses the responsibilities, expectations, and benefits of Program participation. Upon notification that the orientation has been completed, students will be notified that they may began full Program participation.

Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

    ·       Student’s commitment to completing high school

    ·       Student’s interest in pursuing a college education

    ·       Student’s academic need

    ·       Educational attainment within your family
