The Alberta Craft Council is excited to announce our call for entry for the 2025 upcoming Feature Gallery Exhibition Craft Perspectives.
In 2025, Alberta Craft celebrates its 45th anniversary. As part of this celebration, we are excited to share this call for our upcoming Feature exhibition, Craft Perspectives. Join us in looking ahead by reflecting on the past. We invite members to create work in response to objects in museums, archive collections, and other historical works in Alberta. Your work can be inspired by an entire historical collection or one historic item. Keep an eye out in the coming months for behind-the-scenes field trips to some of Alberta’s most fascinating collections and archives. As you work on your submission, we ask that you keep track of your references with photos, locations or territorial information, names of collections, and any relevant catalogue numbers/descriptions. Alberta Craft will highlight sources of inspiration and reference material in the exhibition didactics and exhibition promotion.
Full details of upcoming Alberta Craft Field Trips to some of Alberta’s most fascinating museums and collections will be announced in our E-news and social media communications, members watch your inboxes! While exploring Alberta’s history, it is important to be mindful of cultural appropriation, to be aware of its effects and impacts, and for artists to consider their own practices. Our friends at Canadian Crafts Federation have compiled a helpful collection of resources on the topic:
