    CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:

    To be eligible to compete and recieve prize money & trophies attached to the Ray White Livestock Rockhampton Incentive Rookie Challenge the dog & handler must comply with the following:

    1. The Dog was purchased and paid for under the Ray White Livestock Rockhampton Working Dog Sale Terms and Conditions at the 2015 to 2024 sales.

    2. No dog is eligible to compete in the event if it was sold at the Ray White Livestock Working Dog Sale by the vendor to a Purchaser that is related to the vendor, either by syndicate, company or family.

    3. Any dog resold by any other method other than through the Ray White Livestock Rockhampton Working Dog Sale will NO LONGER BE ELIGIBLE to compete in the Ray White Livestock Rookie Challenge Incentive.

    4. The dog can be of any age or status to enter the Rookie Challenge Incentive.

    5. The Handler is NOT to have won a Maiden, Novice or Open Dog Trial Event.

    6. Once a Handler or Dog wins the Rookie Challenge Incentive they are no longer eligible to enter the Rookie Challenge Incentive but may still be eligible for the Open Challenge Incentive.

    THERE WILL BE A JUDGES TALK PRIOR TO THE EVENT TO EXPLAIN HOW TO COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE AND THE SCORING.

  • RULES OF ROOKIE CHALLENGE INCENTIVE

    1. One handler can have mutilple dogs in this event.

    2. Dog can be of any age or status.

    3. Handler is not to have won a Maiden, Novice or Open Dog Trial Event

    4. Each dog shall have 3 head of cattle (weaners where possible)

    5. Should the judge deem necessary, they may order fresh cattle during the trial.

    6. The competitor, with their dog will stand at a point indicated by the Judge.

    7. The competitor shall not be allowed to assist their dog in any way except by signal, whistle or word of mouth. All competitors may carry a whip or drafting can but it must not exceed 24" (60cm). 

    8. The competitor must walk, not trot, nor run, in a direct line from one obstacle to the next and not stop to work their dog. They must not leave the peg at the obstacle, until the cattle are clear of the obstacle, or they will be asked to rework the obstacle.

    9. Pointswill be deducted if a competitor shifts from their position at the obstacle, dawdles between osbtacles, moves off course or assists their dog by unfair manoeuvre.

    10. After the expiration of half time the judge has the power to intimate to the competitor that they have no chance of making the final.

    11. A dog can be disqualified for tail swinging, rough work or out of control.

    12. The judges decision shall be final.

    13. During the Trial the judges shall notify the competitor by bell, whip or whistle either the expiration of time or disqualification, if necessary.

    14. The organising committee in consultation with the Judges will be responsible for setting the obstacles, the course and the running of high standard trial.

    15. The time starts when the competitor casts their dog. 6 mins are allowed to complete the course.

    16. The dog is being judged from the time it enters the ring until the time it leaves.

    17. If the Cattle have passed through th obstacle before the competitor is in positoin at the obstacle, the cattle must be reworked except at the pen. If the cattle enter the pen whilst holding the gate then close the gate to complete the course.

    18. the dog will not recieve a score unless the course or time is completed.

    19. Points may be deducted from: 

          a) a tail turn

          b) Each time cattle circle an obstacle

          c) A show of disinterest by the dog

          d) cattle going off course and out of position

          e) dog not covering cattle and out of position

          f) urinating or defecating -5 points penalty for either

          g) a competitor must not touch their dog until the course is completed.

    POINTS 

       CAST - 5 POINTS

       DRAW - 5 POINTS

       GATE - 10 POINTS

       RACE - 10 POINTS

       PEN - 10 POINTS   

    GENERAL WORK - 60 POINTS

    NO DELIVERY NO SCORE

    Note: The Jugde and committee have the discretion to alter the points system, as they see fit.

     

  • CODE OF CONDUCT DOG TRIAL

     

    1.      All competitors are required to show sportsmanship and conduct themselves with honour, integrity and decorum while in the trial arena.

    2.      Competitors are prohibited from using foul language while competing – anyone using foul language while on the course will be penalised through the loss of points (at the judge’s discretion) and an official warning;

    3.      The use of physical force against any dog – whether its working or not – at a trial is prohibited;

    4.      The use of training collar on any dog – whether its working or not – at a trial is prohibited;

    5.      All competitors must ensure the comfort of their dogs while at a trial – i.e they have sufficient water and shelter;

    6.      All competitors must treat the judge with respect;

    7.      All competitors to acknowledge that the judge’s decision is final and that it is not subject to appeal.

    8.      The abuse of judges, committee members and cattle donors will not be tolerated.
