CODE OF CONDUCT
For all truck drivers entering MCQ Quarry
•Quarry Operating hours are 7am to 6pm Monday – Friday, 8am to 2pm Saturdays
• All heavy vehicle drivers operating out of MCQ are to observe the posted speed limits, with speed adjusted appropriately to suit the road and environment and prevailing weather conditions, to comply with the NSW road rules & heavy vehicle national law. The vehicle speed must be appropriate to ensure the safe movements of the vehicle based on vehicle configuration.
• The speed limit along the haul road is 45km/hr. The speed limit along the quarry driveway is 60km/hr. All trucks must come to a complete stop when exiting onto Sewell’s Creek Road.
• On entering the quarry, trucks must communicate via UHF 25 to the weighbridge operator or sales loader, conversations MUST be kept to a minimum.
• Drivers are expected to give way to all oncoming vehicles, paying particular attention to quarry equipment. Trucks must give way to loaders and dump trucks at all times.
• Truck drivers loading at stockpiles should remain in their cabins. No children are permitted on site without prior permission.
• Whilst waiting to be loaded, if drivers exit their cabin they must be cautious of other vehicles and machines moving between and behind stockpiles. Drivers must be wearing adequate PPE such as high visibility clothing, long sleeve shirts and long pants, safety boots and a safety helmet.
• Due to space limitations, trucks are expected to slow down to a speed which will ensure they are able to stop quickly if required.
• To alleviate public concern and increase road safety, heavy vehicles leaving MCQ quarry should try to be separated by a minimum, 1.5-minute interval.
• All drivers are to show respect for our neighbours in and around the Sewell’s creek road area, Use of Mayfield Road is prohibited except when delivering to an address on Mayfield Road. Additional caution and consideration of noise is required if travelling on Mayfield Road.
• All heavy vehicle drivers operating out of MCQ are to minimise the use of compression brakes, so as not to create excessive noise.
• All heavy vehicle drivers operating out of MCQ quarry are to;
- Have completed a site induction and be competent to operate on site,
- Protect themselves and others, when and if working at heights,
- Wear a seat belt,
- Never text or use a hand held phone whilst driving,
- Never drive under the influence of drugs & alcohol,
- Report all injuries, incidents and hazards to the supervisor/manager,
- Be aware of their adopted fatigue managements and operate within the requirements. By law, all drivers have a duty to not drive a fatigue regulated heavy vehicle on a road while impaired by fatigue.
Failure to comply with the above will result in immediate removal from the MCQ site.
