2.) ATTENDANCEAttendance is very important to your success, and we want you to be successful! Students in ILI’s Free English Program are expected to attend class two nights a week. If your attendance rate is below 80%, you may be removed from the program.Initials* I agree to come to class two nights each week.
3.) PARTICIPATION - Students in online classes are expected to keep their video cameras on. Class is much better when we can all see each other! We understand that sometimes you need to step away from the screen for a moment, and it is okay to turn your video off for a couple of minutes. However, if your camera is off for most of the class, you will be marked absent. Please note: It is important to join your online class from a distraction-free environment so that you can focus and participate. Joining from your workplace is strongly discouraged. If you join from work, and it interferes with your participation, you may be asked to leave the class. DRIVING - You can not join an online class while driving a vehicle. Your safety is very important. If you join while driving, your teacher will exit you from the class session.Initials* I agree that I will not join my online English class while I am driving.
4.) ABSENCES - General InformationIf you need to miss a class, for any reason (for example: illness, injury, taking care of a family member, work, church events), you need to tell your teacher. If it is not possible to tell your teacher about your absence before class, contact them as soon as possible. Also, schedule appointments outside of class time. RELIGIOUS HOLIDAY ABSENCES (for example Ramadan and Reyes Magos) and VACATION ABSENCES - Please tell your teacher when you will stop coming to class and when you will return. Talk to your teacher about their expectations during the time you will be away. OUT OF STATE TRAVEL ABSENCES - If you need to travel out of state for an extended period, please talk to Beth Reddish, Ashley Martins, or Laura Eveleigh about maintaining your spot in the class.Initials* I agree to communicate with Beth, Ashley, or Laura about my out of state travel.
5.) HOMEWORK - Homework is assigned every week in all classes. Completing your homework regularly will help you learn English. If you have a problem completing the homework, please ask your teacher, advisor, or director for help. Initials* I agree to complete my homework regularly.
6.) ADVISING - A program advisor meets with every student at least one time during the school year to have a conversation about goals and to connect you with future career, educational, or community opportunities. You may meet with an advisor only once, or you may meet with an advisor many times, depending on your goals. Meeting with an advisor is part of being an ILI student.
