About NICHE 4.0
NICHE 4.0 is a dynamic program designed to guide justice-involved participants in creating detailed business plans and establishing their brand identities. Emphasizing business education and strategic planning, the program provides access to a range of supportive resources as participants advance. These include pro bono legal services, seed funding, mentorship, and expansive social capital networks. The program is intensive and fast-paced, requiring aspiring entrepreneurs to commit at least 30 hours per month over a 12-month period to complete it successfully. Participants are expected to attend at least 75% of all sessions and complete all assignments punctually. While classes are conducted online, coaching and mentoring sessions follow a hybrid format.
Class Schedule and Expectations
Applications for NICHE 4.0 are due by September 30, with notifications sent by October 5. This 12 month cohort begings on October 19 and are held online on the third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Graduation will take place on September 20, 2025. Location to be determined. You must have reliable internet, a quiet learning space, and be prepared to actively participate with your camera on. If your camera is not on, you will be marked absent. Distractions such as moving cameras, background noise, or any other disruptions may lead to removal from the class. Only those who complete the program will be eligible for the pitch contest, grants, and additional resources.
Application Process
To be considered for the NICHE 4.0 cohort, you must have been formerly incarcerated, have stable income and housing, and have access to the internet and an electronic device. If you do not have access to a computer or tablet, we may have resources available through our partners. Please indicate your need for assistance in your application below. Alternatively, many libraries and neighborhood centers offer free Wi-Fi. Applications are due by September 30, and the cohort will be limited to 20 participants, so make sure your application is clear and comprehensive.

It is important to know that this economic development program aims to open or growth businesses within disinvested neighborhoods. In our commitment to fostering equitable entrepreneurship, in partnership with various stakeholders, we may offer additional support to individuals from racial minority groups, convicted felons, low-income households, and immigrant communities. We never exclude anyone from receiving our services.
