This engagement letter outlines the scope of services, the fee structure, our mutual responsibilities, and other important terms for our working relationship. By signing this letter, you agree to the terms set forth below.
1. Scope of Services
We will provide tax preparation services for your individual or business tax return, as specified below:
- Preparation of Federal and State Income Tax Returns for the tax year 2025.
Additional Services (if applicable): filing extensions, amendments, estimated tax calculations, etc.
- Our services do not include audits unless you select to add it on as additional service, representation before the IRS or other tax authorities, or legal advice unless otherwise specified in writing
2. Fee Structure
The fee for our services will be based on the complexity of your tax return and the time required to prepare it. The following outlines our fee structure:
- Form based Fees: Fees for tax preparation is determined based on the specific tax forms that need to be completed for a client's return.
- Additional services, such as amendments, back filing, or handling notices from the IRS, will be billed separately as a flat rate or as agreed upon in advance.
3. Payment Methods and Billing
Payment for services is due upon completion of your tax return and before filing. We accept the following payment methods:
- Cash
- Credit/Debit Cards
- Electronic Payments (e.g., Zelle, Apple Pay, CashApp)
You will receive an invoice upon completion of services, and payment is due on the same day the invoice is issued. If a refund is due, the fee can be deducted from the refund. However, if you owe taxes, payment for services must be made upfront before filing.
4. Client Responsibilities
As our client, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete, and timely information necessary for the preparation of your tax return. This includes but is not limited to income documentation (W-2s, 1099s), deduction details, and any other relevant financial documents.
- Review your tax return carefully before submission to ensure all information is accurate.
- Notify us of any changes to your financial situation that may affect your tax filings, such as changes in income, marital status, dependents, or address.
- Cooperate with us in providing any additional documents or clarifications requested during the preparation of your tax return.
Failure to provide accurate and timely information may result in delays in filing or an incorrect tax return, for which you may be responsible.
5. Our Responsibilities
As your tax preparer, we will:
- Prepare your tax returns in compliance with applicable federal and state laws based on the information you provide.
- Advise you on potential tax deductions, credits, and strategies to minimize your tax liability within the scope of our services.
- Maintain records of your tax return, including relevant documents, for a minimum of 3 years or as required by law.
- Keep you informed of any changes to tax laws that may impact your return during the preparation process.
6. Confidentiality
We are committed to safeguarding your personal and financial information. All information you provide to us will be kept confidential and will not be disclosed to third parties without your written consent, except as required by law or in the course of providing services to you (e.g., IRS filings).
We adhere to the highest standards of privacy and data protection, and all client information will be handled securely.
7. Termination of Agreement
Either party may terminate this engagement by providing written notice to the other party. The following conditions apply:
- You may terminate the agreement at any time before the completion of services by notifying us in writing. If termination occurs after work has begun, you will be responsible for payment of any work completed up to that point.
- We reserve the right to terminate this engagement if you fail to provide the necessary information or documentation within a reasonable time frame or fail to cooperate with our requests, or if there are any conflicts of interest.
In the event of termination, any fees for services performed up until that point will remain due and payable.
8. Acknowledgment and Acceptance
By signing below, you acknowledge and accept the terms outlined in this engagement letter. This agreement will be in effect for the tax year specified and will remain in effect until terminated by either party as described above.
