All pawpaw seeds come from fruit processed at Pure Joy Ice Cream. We have pawpaw seeds available from three different sources around the Ozarks region of present day Northwest Arkansas. Pawpaw Seeds - Ames OrchardThese pawpaw seeds come from fruit grown at Ames Orchard in Fayetteville, AR. These are a mix of seeds from known cultivars including Shenandoah, Taytwo, Allegheny, Mango, Wabash, Atwood, Overleese and select seedlings including the Ames Orchard cultivar/tree which produces a wonderfully rich and sweet pawpaw with strong notes of caramel and mango. Roughly 80-90 percent of these seeds come from the known cultivars we listed. We love to use the pulp from this fruit to produce our Pawpaw + Vanilla ice cream. Pawpaw Seeds - SuttonThese seeds are a mix from fruit grown by Brett Sutton near Cincinnati, OH. Brett said that his grandfather planted and cultivated these pawpaw trees on their property. Overall blend of the fruit pulp was somewhere between the sometimes deep orange color of some pawpaws and the lighter yellowish pulp of others. Pawpaw Seeds - WildOur wild pawpaw seeds come from a multi-acre patch on a farm near Evansville, AR. The fruit has a wide range of characteristics. Many of the trees are towering 40ft above the forest floor with large trunks. This patch has likely existed for over a century and continues to see new young trees sprouting from seeds every year. If you selected Cash App or Venmo we will send you a payment request. Once payment is received, your seeds will ship in heat sealed plastic bags with a small amount of moisture inside to ensure the seeds do not dry out on their journey to you. We have taken care of the seeds to ensure they have not dried out, but finishing the stratification and monitoring the package for any potential growth of mold will be your responsibility once you receive the package. There are lots of different methods for preventing mold growth including storing your seeds in a bag with peat moss and sand but we have had great success just monitoring the seeds and rinsing them every month or so to prevent mold. Each package will ship with a note letting you know how long the seeds have spent in our refrigerators so you’ll know how much longer they need to complete stratification. Each package will also include a QR code that will link you to the KSU Pawpaw Plating Guide.
