  • PROPEL Pitch Showcase Application Rules and Guidelines


    Please review the following rules carefully before submitting your application:

    Welcome to the PROPEL Pitch Showcase, hosted by the Urban League of Central Carolinas Young Professionals. This competition highlights the unique entrepreneurial spirit of the South, drawing on the collective energy, leadership, and character of our communities. Participants will gain valuable real-world experience, engage with the key issues addressed by the National Urban League, and present their creative business ideas.

    The winner will be awarded a $1,000 investment from Pinnacle Financial Partners, recognizing their innovative vision and potential.

    PROPEL Pitch Showcase Rules


    1. Application Deadline: All applications must be submitted by April 6th.

    2. Eligibility: Only ticket holders for the PROPEL Conference or the those who have paid the Pitch Showcase Application Fee will be eligible to participate in the Showcase.

    3. Pitch Duration: Each participant has exactly 4 minutes to pitch their idea. A visible timer will help manage time.

    4. Q&A Session: After each pitch, there will be a 3-minute Q&A with the judges. Responses should be concise and prompt.

    5. Timekeeping: A designated timekeeper will signal the end of the pitch and the 3-minute Q&A session. Participants must stop immediately when time is called.

    6. Visual Aids: Participants may use physical visual aids such as prototypes, posters, or handouts. Digital media (slideshows or electronic displays) must be submitted with the application and cannot be revised afterward.

    • Limit: 2 pages or 2 slides. Videos are not permitted.

    7. Disqualifications: Participants will be disqualified for:

    • Exceeding the 4-minute pitch time.
    • Ignoring the timekeeper’s signal
    • Using unapproved materials or failing to submit presentation aids by the deadline. 

    8. Audience Conduct: Audience members must remain respectful and quiet during presentations.

    9. Recording: All presentations will be recorded.

    10. Judging: The judges’ decision is final. Winners will be announced at the end of the competition, with prizes and recognition based on judges' scores and feedback.
