Rules & Agreement
Each team should have a designated TEAM CAPTAIN. This person will be the point of contact for he team and will do all the communication with the board during the cook-off. Each team will be given a 10x10 space for a tent and their cooking gear. You MUST have weights for each leg of tent. Gates will open to start setting Team booth up at 6:00 am. No vehicles will be allowed in. Board members will have atv’s and trailers to load your items on and bring you in to your designated booth spot. Board members will do the same when you take down your things to leave. (Same as vendors rules for the festival.) Ice chest will be searched. ABSOLUTELY NO DRINKS ALLOWED! Only water to cook with. Cooking will begin at 7:00 am (no earlier). Mandatory Agreement: When you plan and prepare your dish each team should be prepared to serve 50 normal servings plus the 5 servings to the judges. (55 total) Each team MUST stay to serve your dish to the public until 1:00 pm. Each team will be provided with utensils and serving cups to serve to their dish to the public. Serving to the public will begin at 11:00 am (no earlier). All entries should be turned into the office by 11:00 am. Each team will receive plates to put their entry in and will be given directions on what to do. Any food you are serving with your black pot main dish is allowed to be prepared ahead such as: rice, noodles, bread….etc. Each team will be provided with sanitary gloves to be worn while preparing their food and serving the dish. There will be a washing station for cooking gear and hand washing available. Each team will be given utensils and serving cups to serve to their dish to the public. Each team is expected to act with sportsmanship and cleanliness. There will be anonymous 5 judges and they will not be local people. JUDGING CRITERIA Appearance Aroma Flavor Each judge will give a score of 1 -5 with 5 being best. 1st place winners will be announced and given an award at 1:30 pm. If you are competing in the Best Decorated Booth contest: Theme: Hunting and MUST have a COON incorporated in the decorations. A winner will be chosen by People’s Choice (sold throughout the day for $1 a vote). Voting will stop at 12:30 pm so that we can count the votes. Winner will be announced at 1:30 pm when the dish winners are announced. Team Captain must sign below acknowledging the rules and agreements:
