Greetings from the Evanston-North Shore Alumnae (ENSA) Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated,
E-Town Stomp Down High School Step Competition is Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Evanston Township High School!! This annual competition is a highly anticipated and exciting cultural event that showcases the talented youth within the Chicagoland area and beyond. The event was birthed from the responses in the 2006 Youth Engagement Initiative document prepared by the City of Evanston, which stated it was “cheaper to get high in Evanston than go to the movies.” The survey confirmed that there weren't any activities specifically designed for youth that would meet their educational and social needs.
The Evanston-North Shore Alumnae (ENSA) Chapter found this report to be alarming and determined that action needed to be taken. The E-Town Stomp Down was designed to support the underserved Evanston teenage population while also addressing their social needs. This event allows the youth to express themselves in an energetic, fun way while encouraging teamwork. Over the past years, E-Town Stomp Down has grown from 2 teams competing in front of an audience of 200 to 12 teams in front of over 800 people.
