  • The EHS Management System

A management system is a set of policies, processes and procedures used by an organization to ensure that it can fulfill the tasks required to achieve its objectives. (Wikipedia)

Validus Energy’s EHS management system is how we actively execute our commitment to safety and the environment.

Our management system can be visually displayed as a triangle with every part interacting with the other.

Our policies and procedures describe how we do our job and form the base or support structure for the rest of the system.

  • Social Responsiility is our commitment to operate with integrity  This concept is often referred to as ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance).

Our ESG policy can be found on our website www.validus-energy.com/esg

  • The elements of the EHS Management system will be described in detail below, but each element impacts the others.

The system - as a whole - is just a part of our operational strategy as a company.

  • Policies and Procedures

The policies and procedures are the foundational element of the EHS Management System.  It contains the management commitment, the leadership accountability, employee responsibilities The policies and procedures element also contains the expectations of Validus’ contractors and how Validus will assess the contractors to provide reasonable care to verify that those expectations are being met.

    (What are the Rules?)

  • Training & Measurement

Safety training, communication, and key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure EHS performance are the aspects of the training and measurement element.

(How do people know the rules, how do we make sure they are followed?)

  • Risk Management

Activity taking place during simultaneous operations (SIMOPs) and evaluation of risk to employees, contractors, the public and environment as well as the assessment and correction of hazards are the elements of risk management.

(What are we doing to protect the interests of the workers and company)

  • Emergency Response

Emergency planning, preparedness, drills and coordination with local emergency responders and regulatory agencies make up the emergency response element.

     (What if something goes wrong?)

  • Assurance

Assurance is the center element because the system only functions if every element is consistently reviewed for continuous improvement. The assurance element contains performance monitoring, and the means to manage change to the program and the documentation and retention practices required to meet regulatory requirements.

(How are we doing what we said we would? Is there documentation?)

  • Summary

EHS is a foundational requirement of our ability to operate.

Every element of the EHS Management System plays an important role in each of the programs that define HOW we operate.
