Welcome Team: If you enjoy meeting new people and welcoming them to church, this is the team for you! Our Welcome Team meets and greets at the sidewalk, front door, entry to the sanctuary, etc., on Sunday mornings. They also serve at other events, like funerals, Playschool events, Wednesday night Next Gen activities, etc., if you are available. If you join the welcome team, you are expected to serve one Sunday per month. Craig Strickland and Randy Robinett are the contacts.
Youth Team: This team helps our student pastor (Colton Henderson) with all things youth! He may need someone to teach a small group, or chaperone a trip, or provide transportation to an event, or bring a snack to a party, host an event, among other things. This team helps on an as-needed basis. Colton Henderson is the contact.
Children’s Ministry Team: Volunteers on Children’s Ministry Team can help in many ways. 1) Teaching a small group (4-8 kids) on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights. We would love for this to be just a once-a-month rotation! 2) It also can be helping with VBS planning and execution, and special events planning – like Trunk or Treat and the Advent Festival. 3) Then there’s preparing crafts and some behind-the-scenes things as well. Nicole Sartori is the contact.
Nursery Team: You get to love on babies (ages 0-walking). These youngest church members need care and attention while mom and dad enjoy the sermon. You may have to rock them, comfort them, change their diaper, or feed them a bottle, but the snuggles will be worth it! Nursery team members are expected to serve once on month or Sundays or Wednesdays. Nicole Sartori is the contact.
Welcome Center Kiosk: Anyone working the kiosk in our Welcome Center will be expected to learn about the activities of the church and be able to direct people where they need to go on Sundays or Wednesdays. We are developing a manual which will help! You are asked to serve once a month on Sundays or Wednesdays. Kristin Pratt is the contact.
Congregational Care: This team will help the pastor call on members of the church who are hurting, may be ill or injured, may have lost a loved one, or perhaps just haven’t been at church for a while. This is an outreach ministry to our membership and you will help the pastor on an as-needed basis, mostly with phone calls or text messages. You are not expected to call or text every person in need, we just want to make sure that every need is met by the pastor and/or someone on this team. Hospital visits are optional for anyone who is willing and available. Brian Hinnant is the contact.
Prayer Team: This team of prayer warriors will help the pastor pray for the needs of our congregation and beyond. Any prayer request that is sent into the church will be sent to this team. Confidentiality is expected as part of this group. Brian Hinnant is the contact.
Hospitality Ministry: People who volunteer for this ministry help plan and execute events on campus, including potlucks, special meals, Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat, etc. Anything that is welcoming to our congregation and community. Sherry Mulling is the contact.
Take A Meal: This ministry takes a meal to members who are sick or injured, just had a baby, just lost a loved one, or who have had surgery, etc. The group collaborates so no one person is responsible for a full meal. You might supply the dessert or side dish or main dish, etc., but not the entire meal by yourself. Brenda Brown is the contact.
Photography Team: People on this team will take mostly candid pictures of everything at the church, from adult worship to kids’ church, from youth on Wednesday nights to special events and other happenings. Right now, it is by event, but we hope that Sundays can become a monthly rotation. Kristin Pratt is the contact.
Social Media/Content Team: We want to use the pictures above, and perhaps add some video, to make some social media and website content that can be used to not only promote Asbury Church, but further God’s Kingdom by reaching others outside of our area and out into the world! This is a ministry in its infancy, and we will be learning together. If you have any experience in this type of work, we would love to talk to you! Brian Hinnant and Kristin Pratt are the contacts.
Facilities/Grounds Maintenance: If you love helping and fixing and maintaining things indoors and out, this is the team for you! Keeping all our buildings in tip-top shape takes men and women with the know-how and the muscle! Sometimes it’s trimming hedges, planting flowers and mulching around outside, and sometimes it’s replacing toilet parts, painting, repairing and cleaning the inside of our 4 buildings. Help is always needed and appreciated! Drew Brickson is the contact.
PES Team: Help us love on kids and teachers at Petal Elementary School! You’ll help pack food bags (on Wednesday nights), help when we serve the teachers at special dates throughout the year, pray for students and teachers, and more! This is mostly on an as-needed basis. There will be some special requests from PES throughout the year. Kristin Pratt is the contact.
Asbury Playschool Team: Help us love on the teachers and young students on our own campus! This will be very similar to the PES Team (minus food bags). You will volunteer on an as-needed basis based on requests from the Playschool. This may include special events throughout the year. Kristin Pratt is the contact.
Core Group Host: A Core Group Host helps guide a Core Group, not teach the group. As a host, your primary role is a facilitator who gathers your group, creates a safe environment, and helps people engage with one another. You use the sermon-related Core Group Questions, provided each week by the church staff, to start conversation. Core Groups can meet in the hosts’ or members’ homes, at a restaurant, or at the church (limited space and times available). Core Groups are asked to meet every other week consistently. Kristina Warren is the contact.
