  • BASELINE CRITERIA:

    MUST MEET AT LEAST 2 BASELINE CRITERIA
  • Does your restaurant use only reusable food-ware for on-site dining?
  • Does your restaurant avoid the use of Styrofoam containers?
  • Are your straws, utensils, and takeout bags non-plastic?
  • Does your restaurant avoid the use of plastic bottles?
  • Waterfront Restaurants may want to consider adding a Living Seawall or Panels, or hanging Oyster Ropes from their docks for immediate qualification.!

  • We would also like to make some suggestions that your restaurant may try to implement and in doing so you will add additional points to your status.

  • Extra Point-Based Criteria: 

    Select the practices your restaurant currently implements. Points will be calculated based on your selections.
  • All seafood is ‘Best Choice’ or ‘Good Alternative’ as defined by Seafood Watch, or no seafood is served:
  • Proper recycling practices are followed:
  • Ingredients are sourced locally to reduce carbon footprint and support sustainable farming:
  • Composting efforts are in place for food waste:
  • Installation of low-flow faucets and toilets
  • Offering drinking water only upon request
  • No hosing down outside areas to reduce urban runoff
  • Proper disposal of Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) in line with BMPs
  • Up-to-date septic or sewage systems to prevent wastewater pollution
  • Is LED lighting installed on site?
  • Partnership with a company to collect and process recycled grease into commercial products:
  • Are solar panels installed on site?
  • Are Energy Star certified appliances used?
  • Vegetarian and vegan food options are regularly offered
  • Employee's receive introductory sustainability training:
  • Do Employee's participate in ongoing sustainability workshops:
  • Active community engagement and partnerships for environmental or social welfare causes:
  • Commitment to hosting a living seawall, oyster bed, or biochar sleeve along the restaurant's seawall and within adjacent waterways (for waterfront restaurants):
