Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. Question: Will I need transportation from the airport upon arrival?
Answer: Yes, unfortunately, you will need your own transportation to and from the airport. However, transportation for the weekend will be provided for those who check 'Yes' in the JotForm.
2. Question: Are athletes required to stay in the hotel?
Answer: No, it is not mandatory for all athletes to stay in the hotel. If you choose to stay in the hotel, please select "Yes" in the form.
3. Question: Can I request to stay with someone other than a teammate?
Answer: Players are required to stay with their teammates. Exceptions are only considered in rare situations and must be approved in advance by the Ismaili Hoopsgiving Team.
4. Question: Do athletes and chaperones need to fill out the form individually?
Answer: Yes. Every athlete and every chaperone must complete the form individually. This ensures accurate records and proper arrangements for all participants.
5. Question: When should I arrive in Houston?
Answer: Those flying in should plan to arrive at IAH Airport Friday Nov 28, no later than 12:00 PM.
Registration:
• Players who are staying at the hotel will register and check-in at 15555 N Freeway, Houston, Texas (Springhill Suites). Transportation to the evening event will be provided from 4 PM to 7 PM.
• Players who are not staying at the Springhill Suites will register at 8200 W Rayford Road, Spring, Texas, 77839 (UCC Center), where dinner and the evening event will take place.
6. Question: Will I need a car during the weekend in Houston, Texas?
Answer: No, you will not need a car during the weekend from November 28 to 30 in Houston. If you are staying in the hotel, transportation will be provided by the Ismaili Hoopsgiving Team to all the venues for the full weekend. Athletes and chaperones who arrange their stay will need to manage their own transportation.
7. Question: Where will all games be played?
Answer: All Friday games will be played at UCC. (If you are playing Friday, you should have been contacted already.) Games Saturday and Sunday will be at MI3 Center.
8. Question: What should I do if my flight is not until Sunday night or Monday?
Answer: We can accommodate you until Sunday. After that, you will need to pay for an extra stay at the hotel, but we can arrange a discounted rate. Please inform us in advance if this is your case.
9. Question: Do athletes need chaperones?
Answer: Athletes under 16 years old will need one chaperone for every three athletes. Chaperones are encouraged to stay with the athletes but are not required to do so.
10. Question: Do coaches need to register?
Answer: Yes! All coaches must register. The head coach from each team is covered. Everyone else must pay.
11. Question: Do I need to be Ismaili to play in the tournament?
Answer: Yes! This tournament is for Ismaili Muslims only. Any exceptions must be approved by the Hoopsgiving Team.
12. Question: Will all teams make the playoffs?
Answer: No, not all teams will make the playoffs. However, each team will play at least 4 games and at least one on sunday.
13. Question: How many players can a team have?
Answer: Teams must have a minimum of 8 players.
14. Question: Who should I contact if I have questions?
