  • ACTION ITEMS:

    PI should schedule a meeting with the SAHP Office of Research team (Willis Brewer, Vanessa Cohen, Dr. Moreau), at least thirty (30) days in advance. Allow more days for NIH or federal funding grants. SAHP Office of Research Coordinator (Vanessa Cohen) can assist in scheduling this meeting. 

    PI should come to the meeting prepared to discuss the Budget with the Business Manager (at least thirty (30) days in advance). 

    At least 20 days in advance 

    • PI should submit their Notice of Intent to submit to LSUHSC-NO, Office of Research Services (ORS). Notice of Intent to Submit a Grant Application    

    At least 10 days in advance of the application deadline, a proposal should be routed for approvals in KUALI management system. 

    The Routing Packet (Proposal) should include: 

    • Project Abstract (30 lines or less) – May be in draft form 
    • Budget/Budget Justification (Prepared by Business Manager) 
    • Consortium Letter(s) Letter (s) if another institution is involved 
    • Other required documents, if applicable
      • Data Management & Sharing plan, if applicable 
      • Signed Indirect Cost Waiver, if applicable 
      • Any other information requested by FOA requiring AOR signature 

    A member of the SAHP Office of Research staff will prepare the routing proposal in Kuali once all of the materials are received from the PI. 

    At least five (5) working days in advance of the application deadline, PI should transmit to the LSUHSC-NO, Office of Research Services (ORS), a complete grant application to be submitted electronically. For example, this would be completed via ASSIST for NIH grants or LOGAN for Board of Regents grants. Please allow enough time to successfully submit your grant application and allow for unexpected errors which may require you to resubmit.  

    The Grants coordinator in the SAHP Office of Research (Vanessa Cohen) may submit grant applications to the ORS on the PI’s behalf.
