  • ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Love it or List it is a 60-minute programme hosted by property experts Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer. Each programme features a family struggling with a common dilemma: their home doesn’t work for them anymore. One side of the family want to stay and make their current home better, but the other side want to sell up and move. By taking part in the show, each family agree to undertake a renovation, which they fund entirely themselves, to resolve the dilemma. The aim is that by the end of filming they will be in a better place to make a joint decision on where their future lies. They will decide to ‘Love It’ and remain in their current property, or ‘List It’ and move at some point in the future. Whatever decision they make, they will have the UK’s two best property experts on hand to help. Kirstie Allsopp will try to show the family that they CAN make their current home work by renovating it (Team Love it). Kirstie will present her concept drawing which the family can adapt or change as they see fit. Kirstie’s mantra is to try and formulate a plan that futureproofs the home, helps with any possible sale and gives them the best value for their spend. Phil Spencer will attempt to demonstrate to the family that the best way to move forward is by selling up and buying a new home (List It). The couple will also see 3 homes with Phil that match as much of their criteria as possible, as he tries to sway them towards team List It. Phil will also make a couple aware if any houses come onto the market that fit their criteria, right up until the final day of filming.

At the end of the filming process, Kirstie and Phil will ask the question: are you going to Love it or List It?

  • WHO ARE WE LOOKING TO HEAR FROM?

We are looking for families who own their house and who have money in place to fund the renovations on their property. Raise the Roof Productions does not pay for any of the work carried out in your home as part of the series so you must have these funds in place already, or be close to obtaining them before you submit your application. You will be asked to provide proof of finance early on in the application process. Kirstie will offer considered suggestions on your renovation, with input from an architectural consultant (please note that you may still need to enlist your own architect). Once your final filming day is confirmed, a stylist/interior designer will be on hand to support and assist with styling your home/renovation. Phil will provide you with some hassle-free house hunting and advice.

PLEASE NOTE: FAMILIES APPEARING ON “LOVE IT OR LIST IT” MUST HAVE A REASONABLE RENOVATION BUDGET. RTRP WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY COSTS INVOLVED IN THE RENOVATION PROCESS OR FOR MAKING SURE THAT ANY PERMISSIONS/CONSENTS ARE REQUIRED.
