Intern Offerings at the CVA:
Arts Admin Intern - Our Arts Administration Internships are a flexible opportunity that can accommodate students' schedules. A minimum commitment of 20 hours per month is preferred.
Students will gain experience working alongside the Executive Director in an arts-based non-profit organization. Arts Admin interns will learn the importance of arts and culture-based organizations to a community’s well-being by experiencing firsthand all facets of the business.
Education Intern - Education Internships are flexible opportunity that can accommodate students schedules. A minimum commitment of 20 hours per month is preferred.
Students will gain experience working in an arts non-profit organization with a large education footprint. Education interns will work closely with our Director of Education and Executive Director to learn the importance of arts education opportunities. Students will get hands-on experience in and out of the classroom and Ceramic Studio with community-based opportunities as well.
Summer Education TA - Education TA Internship hours are aligned with our summer camp Schedule. There are set hours and break times for this role.
This intern, our Education Assistant, will get to work hands on in the classroom alongside a dedicated teacher and our education department. The intern will have the opportunity to engage with not just children, but the Center for Visual Arts’ staff, board, patrons, parents and more.
Gallery Intern - Gallery Internships are a flexible commitment of at least 2 months* averaging 15 hrs per week. *This ensures that during the internship a gallery changeover occurs.
Students will gain experience working in a gallery setting with artists, volunteers, and patrons. Interns will gain hands-on experience with art handling, coordinating exhibitions, artwork installation, day-to-day gallery operations & maintenance, and gallery programming. Gallery interns will work on some projects independently.
Micro-Gallery Internship - Micro Gallery internships are a minimum of 25 hours to be completed over 1-2 weeks. Micro internships are only available during and around the time of the de-installation/installation of exhibits at the CVA. Interns must be 15+ years of age to participate in a Micro Internship in the CVA Galleries. Currently, Micro internships are available in June, August, January for winter break & J-Term, and March for spring break.
Micro-Internship in the CVA Galleries should expect to receive an introduction and hands-on experience with art handling and installation of exhibits. Micro-interns will work closely with the CVA curator of art to experience gallery-related tasks.
