We, the undersigned residents of Lion Pride Lifestyle Estate, wish to voice our concerns regarding the proposed introduction of a Shoprite store within our community's shopping complex. After reviewing the communication from Abland, we understand that initial attempts to secure a Checkers store have been unsuccessful. However, we firmly believe that through proactive community engagement and the provision of additional supporting data, we can potentially influence the decision to align more closely with the community's preferences.
Our community is committed to actively participating in efforts to persuade Checkers to consider our estate as a viable location for their store. We understand the urgency and have already initiated plans to support this initiative wholeheartedly.
As requested by Abland, our community will collect comprehensive data to substantiate our preference for a Checkers store, including:
The number of residents holding Checkers loyalty cards.
Receipts and purchase slips from Checkers stores, reflecting our current shopping habits.
Detailed survey results indicating shopping preferences among the residents.
Signature Drive and Petition Distribution
We propose appointing representatives from each village within our estate to lead a signature drive. This petition will include the names, house numbers, and signatures of residents, as well as the number of people per household, to effectively demonstrate the potential customer base for Checkers.
Beyond data collection and petition efforts, we will create an online platform where residents can upload further proof of their shopping preference for Checkers, such as digital copies of loyalty cards and purchase receipts. These steps will be undertaken promptly, and we encourage all stakeholders to participate and lend their support.
We respectfully urge Abland and the relevant stakeholders to reconsider the decision to introduce a Shoprite store and instead explore avenues for engaging with Checkers, supported by the evidence and community support outlined in this petition. We are confident that this alignment will better serve our community’s needs, enhance the shopping complex's appeal, and contribute positively to the local economy.
