Reasonable Adjustments

A Reasonable Adjustment is a modification that aims to reduce the consequence of a candidate’s known difficulty that may disadvantage said candidate’s assessment.
Reasonable adjustments are intended to level the playing field for candidates by ensuring equal access and that no one candidate should hold an unfair advantage over another.
Examples of Reasonable Adjustments may include:
- Altering exam conditions – for instance, allowing extra time to complete the exam.
- Adapting materials and exam conditions to the candidate’s needs – EG providing the exam paper in large font format, providing a sign language interpreter or modifying the room set up by removing visual stimuli which may distract an autistic candidate.
Candidates with a known difficulty requiring a Reasonable Adjustment are asked to contact jsow@joval.com.au as soon as possible and must complete a Reasonable Adjustment Application form within 24 working days of the exam.
