Whilst every contribution is valued, it is important to realise that not every suggestion or recommendation will be incorporated into the final memorial design. There are key aspects that must be considered, including the requirements of the National Memorial Arboretum. Please see below the Guidelines on Memorials at the Arboretum.
NATIONAL MEMORIAL ARBORETUM GUIDELINES
The National Memorial Arboretum has offered the following advice/guidelines when considering the design and construction of a memorial at the Arboretum:
• The Arboretum takes a progressive view when considering memorial design and a wide variety of designs and materials have been successfully used throughout the Arboretum.
• Any material may be used however, consideration must be given to quality, cost, longevity as well as appearance (Noting local flood risks)
• There are no mains electrical, or water supplies available for memorials.
• The main areas of the Arboretum site are fully accessible but full access may be limited in the more remote areas of the Arboretum.
• Any design and installation must include maintenance in perpetuity
• The Arboretum will allocate a location in line with the memorial’s nature and the long-term landscape plan for the site.

Statement from the Memorial Team
The Memorial Team and its advisory group want to assure respondents that we hold intersectionality at the heart of all that we are doing in the context of the memorial project and acknowledge that people's experiences of discrimination, privilege, and identity will have been shaped by the interaction of multiple factors such as sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, class, disability, and other social categories.
