Chalk Artists Requirements
· All chalk artists must complete registration payment in advance. Payment is $5.
· Artists asked to create at our CHALK AREA tables for creating during the festival (by reservation).
· Artist must design an artwork that fits in a 16” x 20” space (grey Ampersand board).
· We are limited to 150 artists, due to the amount of Ampersand boards and pastel sets we have.
· Groups can choose to work on one panel together, or pay additional registration fee to get more than one panel. We ask that school groups request no more than 4 panels, because we have a limited supply of panels.
There is no theme this year -- please just be your creative self!
Items You Will Receive at the event:
o 16” x 20” Ampersand Chalk Board (grey)
o 48-Color Set of Pastels
You may keep both of the above when done creating your chalk masterpiece
Artist Check-In at Event:
· Registered artist checks in at CHALK AREA for table reservation and/or to receive their supplies.
· Artist is directed to CHALK AREA creativity tables for rendering their artwork during their three-hour reservation.
· After artist completes the artwork, artist to take a photo of the artwork and send – with artist name/group name, title of artwork, school level (if applicable, elementary, middle or high school) -- by email to artsfest@roundrocktexas.gov.
o Your artwork photo will be used by the judges and will be used in the virtual exhibition, so take your best photo!
o Please email the artwork photo right after you’ve completed the art, so we can start sharing online during the event!
Once you are finished with your art, please take it home with you!
Items you may want to bring
Sunblock; hand wipes; Hand Sanitizer; Water; Snacks; Hat/Sun Visor; Sunglasses; Your Artist portfolio (to show off); Extra chalk (Always a good Idea to have a few extra sticks of Black & White chalk or any prominent colors); comfortable chair and easel if you wish to find your own creative space in the festival grounds.
Schedule of Events/Festival Hours
o Friday, October 4, 2024: 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
o Saturday, October 5, 2024: 10:00 am – 9:00 pm
o Sunday, October 6, 2024: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Judging
· Three volunteer judges will review each completed artwork remotely based on the photo of the completed work submitted by the artist
· We will collate responses to appoint the winners by category after the event.
· We need to receive your photo of your artwork, so it can be added to the judging and added to the virtual exhibition.
Awards/Art Exhibit:
· Winners will be announced through social media on the City of Round Rock Arts and Culture social media and contacted by email.
· A virtual exhibition of the art will take place during the event and virtually on screen at the City Arts Center. This virtual exhibit will also be viewable on the City of Round Rock website.
· Artists will pick up their ribbons by visiting the new City Arts Center at 231 East Main Street, Suite 160, in Downtown Round Rock.
o Note: When picking up your ribbon, we’d like to take a photo of you with your ribbon to add it to our website and/or use on social media.
