1. Primary Mode of Learning
As a Student in this course, I understand that the primary mode of learning in this classroom space is "discussion" and "conversation." The Instructor intentionally will not read word-for-word off slide presentations like a teleprompter; rather they will engage the class in extemporaneous conversation, following the "theme" for the day.
This free-flowing manner is an intentional preference rather than an organizational deficit. We agree that this learning mode will provide more overall value to the class, though some may be challenged by it and take steps to discuss with the Instructor or otherwise adjust accordingly.
2. Rights and Obligations of the Parties
(a) The Student shall enter into agreement with the other learners and the Instructor to abide by the conventions of a non-linear, "conversational" learning mode.
(b) The Instructor shall provide learning materials consisting of the text, slides, and will also facilitate conversation. Slides prepared are a guideline and supplement to the main text(s) and the student is expect to learn primarily by engaging with the primary text on their own time (ie. NOT THROUGH SLIDES), and prepare accordingly.
(c) Should the Student decide that this mode is challenging or inappropriate for them, they will contact the Instructor or drop the class before the add/drop date.
(d) The Student shall not make frivolous, defamatory, libellous, or slanderous comments that disregard this agreement or the primary learning method named herein.
