Entertainment Application - COMMUNITY STAGE

Our Community Stage is a special area where we celebrate our community and welcome local performance groups and organizations to showcase the talents of their performers. The Community Stage is made possible through local comunity partnership and support, and is located on the south side of the building, facing Harvard. This stage features an array of local talent including dance troupes, magic, music, and more!
The lineup for the Community Stage is selected by our Food & Entertainment Committee who embrace the philosophy and goals of the Summer Arts Festival. When selecting acts for the Community Stage, the Food & Entertainment Committee consider the following:
- How upbeat, energetic, and family-friendly the performances are.
- What area of our local community culture the performance highlights.
- How the performance can engage with visitors and educate them on the performance group or organization.
All applications for the Community Stage Entertainment are reviewed and juried by UVA Staff and the Food & Entertainment Committee after the March 28th deadline. If selected, you will receive notification of your acceptance no later than April 14th, wherein a discussion about performance dates/times and more will be discussed with the Representative listed on the application.

COMMUNITY STAGE LINEUP
The Community Stage runs all three days of the festival. Each group has 60-90 minutes to perform and there are at least 30 minutes in between to change equipment and get ready for the next act. Due to the nature of the performers that apply to our Community Stage, we understand that not every act will have 90 minutes worth of material and welcome acts that have at least 60 minutes worth of material. Below, we are outlining the opening time (Start of the first act) and closing time (End of the last act) for each day of the festival:
Friday, June 27th: 11:00am-8:30pm
Saturday, June 28th: 11:00am-8:30pm
Sunday, June 29th: 11:00am-4:00pm
COMMUNITY STAGE APPLICATION INFORMATION
It is FREE for all interested applicants to apply. For multiple acts within the same group, please include one point of contact (Representative Name) to coordinate between UVA and the individual performers. All applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis leading up to the March 28th deadline and confirmed until all timeslots are filled. If all timeslots are filled before the final deadline, the application process will be closed. This rolling jury is to ensure a timely response for confirming availability with each performer/group. Once a performer/group is confirmed, UVA Staff will send an Entertainment Booklet which will provide the performer/group with important information around the festival.
The Summer Arts Festival is UVA's biggest fundraiser of the year, providing our organization with essential funding that helps us stay sustainable and operational as we provide year-round arts and educational programming to our community.

COMMUNITY STAGE APPLICATION INFORMATION
All Community Stage applicants MUST complete the online form in its entirety to be considered for jurying. Submissions made using slides, physical cds/tapes, paper applications, or emailed resumes/CVs and digital music/video files will not be accepted for jurying. Links to live performance examples are welcomed, but optional.
